great price if you don't mind it taking 20hrs to get there - with the connections in germany

For this price, it's worth the wait. Also the A380 is pretty decent on LH. You actually get personal videos - which isn't the case on most of their other flights in economy. Bargain!

The economy product on the A380 on Lufthansa is indeed pretty good (especially compared to their awful 747's). Good deal!

The 747's are awful and do not have personal TV's. If you are on one of these, the best place in Economy to sit is the first row where the cabin narrows from 3-4-3 to 2-4-2 (2 seats in a space for almost 3)

Most A330s and A340s on the long haul fleet do have private TV's.

Have you ever been? or is this based on false media reporting?

Having worked quite a lot in SA, yes there is a lot of crime but if you are sensible the it is a fantastic place to visit.

And I assume you mean Colombia not Columbia which is in the USA!

I have relatives who moved there due to business and came back vowing never to return. I've also got a friend who is South African born and bred and he's emigrated to Norway for the safety of his young family. His parents live in a decent area of Durban and they have been robbed 3 times in 3 years (being tied up once).

Each to their own but I prefer not to holiday in third world countries.

Great price - £339 from Edinburgh too.

Living in a country is somewhat different from holidaying there. Perhaps a little personal experience would open your eyes. If you remember the world cup managed to pass with very little trouble.

Wow! I'm flying in August already and the cheapest I can find is over £700!

I have been 3 times (last time for the world cup) and it's is a fantastic country.

Crime is a problem, but I have had a knife pulled on me in Amsterdam, and other scrapes around the world. You just have to use common sense.

I have friends from SA who have been robbed there but also robbed here, I have worked in SA (Durban) off and on over the years and never felt an more at risk than some parts of London.

Where ever you go in the world you will find people that have had bad experiences, JoBerg is meant to be worse and I have not been there just to Durban and Cape Town and am looking forward to my next visit there and this deal might speed that trip up.

You obviously are entitled to your own opinion which by the comment is very negative of SA but the whole country is not as you make it out.

So all your information is second hand... You have never been there, nor are you South African... Your comments are distastefull and bassically BS!

Every country has his problems. Lived in england and have more crime happened to me here than I ever did while living in SA

My information about Libya is even more distant than first hand encounters from friends and relatives, I still wouldn't go there on holiday. What is distasteful about my post, I simply referred to facts.

I don't know of a single friend, colleague or relative who has had their property burgled once (touch wood). Every South African I know or I've spoken to has told me tales of their families homes being robbed and/or family members being carjacked.

How many people in England do you know who NEED to have metal railings on all of their windows?

Holidaymakers, don't forget one of these for your rental: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDrzMGdYWZc

I lived there for many years but after a year of 2 house burglaries, a mugging, a car jacking and seeing my best friend shot to death I decided to come back to the UK. I do go back every year to visit relatives, not for much longer though they are all leaving to move to the UK or Australia. I left because it became dangerous, I lived in a nice area of Johannesburg (Sandton) but was often followed home in the car and had to live behind security fences to feel safe. We moved to a nice area of Kwa Zulu Natal (Ballito) but the crime was dramatically increasing there too - I would only recommend people to visit Durban if they were in an organised group with security.

I totally agree with the comments about South Africa - Yes it is a beautiful place but it is also a dangerous place - there are many poor and desperate people. If you do go - be organised, know where your going, what the area is like and get advice on wheres save and where you should avoid. Also remember to carry a little cash - if only to bribe the police if you get a speeding ticket when trying to outrun the car jackers, usually £20 will get you off a £200 speeding ticket!. I wish I was joking :-(

http://sport.scotsman.com/sport/ExSpringbok-U21-on-triple-axe.6743985.jp

this doesn't normally happen in my area

nor burglaries turning to kidnapping and gangrape

perhaps the media is hyping up SA as the crime, murder, and rape capital of the world, but it is hard to ignore all the reports coming out of SA, and the many white SAs that come to the UK and who speak of the violence and crime in their own country

cheap deal, but not for me, I'm more a disneyworld kind of person

Run around in circles, waving ur arms in the air and sqeeking like a teenage girl? That is after emptying the contents of your wallet, pockets, taking off your shoes and writing down your pin number on a piece of paper?

Not to say this will happen but I recently went to Joburg on AirFrance on a similarly cheap fare. Flight from Paris to Joburg got cancelled as it wasn't full but blamed on 'bad weather', had to spend a night in Paris and the flight I got wasn't full either. These flights are cheap because they'll be empty as its winter at the time in SA. Still hot though.

To be fair the weather around Joburg can cause some pretty serious flight problems very occasionally - the storms are fantastic to watch

Firstly I didnt say england was bad or make commets about it like "Destination: Rapeyousilly"

I moved here because I met someone in England wanted to be close to them. So relevence please? secondly I did not once say SA is perfect actaully i did say it has its problems like ever other country does. My issue was someone making a comment "Destination: Rapeyousilly" when they have never set foot on SA soil..

I lived there most of my life and had never been robbed or felt I was in a dangerous situation. And I didnt have bars on my windows, nor was i rich enough to have a security fence :P I had a normal house in a normal neighbourhood. walked to school everyday and didnt fear going to to the shop at night =/

I have lived in england for 8 years now, i got my placed cleaned out by the next door neighbours kids, who the cops wouldn't even talk to and the only response i did get from the police was them checking up I wasn't lying about it... have my car broken into a few times as well.. And now I'm not saying that England is a sh1thole because of this either. I'm saying there is crime where ever you live! And its unfair to judge a place before you have been there on media hyped up stories.

I think most people in england have an issue with guns being legal in SA while in England the only people that seem to have guns are the criminals.... yea... very smart *clap*

Wouldn't guns being legal just mean that it was easier for criminals to acquire them?

And i'm not sure about you but i don't think it would be "very smart" to have the average chav moron from the estate with a handgun in his pocket.
