Sound good, got a couple of tris to London coming up so hopefully this will save me some bucks, cheers.
#13
As long as you keep the reservations part of the ticket you will have to travel on a booked train miss it and thats it ...no alternatives if you missed the train .

but great if you can travel with booked service and know how to tell the time

Yeah but they never actually check! And you have 2 tickets, one of which only says Brighton - London and the date, not the time.
I've got away with going on a completely different train at least 15 times

Anyway. What are the other routes on offer other than Brighton to London? I'm going from Brighton to London next Weds, guess what, no tickets, and same for when i'm going to London on August 1st.
How annoying.

we do check also its penalty fare if caught by revenue protection most routes are by a main line station for cheaper rates country routes are a little more if you want a direct service

trust me : I work for southern :
first ticket is your ticket which states only valid with reservations : which states ie 10:20 brighton - victoria on date

if you dont carry the reservation ticket your original ticket is not valid and you can be made to purchase a new ticket or if caught by revenue a penalty fare of twice the standard single fare £20.30 if i remember from brighton so thats £40.60 is it really worth the hassle to cheat the system just buy you cheap ticket carry both portions and board the correct train and enjoy your day out ..

ppl like you who cause the problems will be the ppl that will stop these great offers
your prob one of the ppl that buy day save and try to travel before 10am !!!!!!
#18
tried a few gatwick to london as single and london to gatwick but nothing came up, ie standard fares.
#19
just found vic - btn single 50p 1st august

typed in btn to vic after 10am none available for outward but offered rtn portion at 50p which is pointless

you can buy day save from onestop travel at brighton in the station advance only ideally 7days in advance for £10 unlimit'd travel after 10am mon-fri or 4 ppl together for £20 or from southern website

Like I said i've done it tons of times! The guards on the gates rarely even care enough to actually look at your tickets! Nobody even knows about it, the offers still come along.
#26
well i cant find anything, why don't they show all available fares on one page, think of all the carbon emmissions from peoples fruitless searching ;)
#27
Cant find any reductions for the day I want (18th) for travel to London Bridge station. Surely all the tickets can't have been used up already?

GRRRRRRRRRR! It makes me so frickin' mad when companies make such a big thing about promotions like this, and then you find the deal is about as useful as a hole in a space suit.
#28
Thanks for the reminder. £1.25 Victoria to Portsmouth on Sunday 19th at 20:17, its normally £3.50 for an advance ticket on that train so thats an amazing deal all round!

Thanks OP.

Where are you going from?
It's only for certain stations.

For example if you want to get to London Bridge from Brighton, you put in Brighton to Victoria for the cheap ticket. And then you pay normal price from victoria to london bridge.
#30
Just got 50p singles between Worthing and London for saturdays in August. Normally £13.50 is the cheapest day return so this is a great saving, many thanks.
#31

#32

#33
Mmmm have tried about 20 dates from Milton Keynes (with our one train an hour) and not a hint of anything cut priced :(
#34
Thanks op, just bkd a day trip to Brighton during summer hols for 2 adults and 3 kids using f+f railcard and it came to £2 total, 35p each adult and 10p each child each way! What a result!
#35

suspended#36

Add Southampton -> London Vic to that list! :)
#39
So are we saying that unless you want to travel to or from London, there is no discounted teckest available?
#40
Ah - I managed EVENTUALLY to track some down from Milton Keynes (eg Brighton for 1.50 return!) however do realise there is some form of LIMIT on bookings per a/c as after making a second booking I got this displayed at the top
"You have now made the maximum allowed number of purchases today (2). You will not be able to purchase any more tickets today."

So there may be a technique of making sure you do ALL your journeys in as few a bookings as possible as you MAY run out.
