From The Visionary Writer / Director of Donnie Darko...

Los Angeles, 2008. Southland Tales is an epic futuristic story set over the course of three days as the city stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. A large ensemble cast of characters includes Boxer Santaros (Dwayne Johnson), an action star stricken with amnesia, Krysta Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar), a porn star with her own reality TV project, and Roland Taverner (Seann William Scott), a cop who holds the key to a vast conspiracy. Have a nice Apocalypse!

Also £5.98 at Amazon for Prime/over £15 spend.

I'm interested to see this film, if only because it's supposed to be shockingly bad. So I might wait until it's £1.99 or given away with the Sunday Times. :-D

Me too. It's been £5.99 on Amazon for about a month, or longer. Eventually everything hits £4.99 or less, so I barely buy any DVDs for more than that these days.

I actually quite enjoyed this, although it's obviously not a patch on Donnie Darko. Has anyone read the three graphic novels that effectively tell the first three parts of the story (with the film telling parts four to six)? I don't think you necessarily have to have read them (and I think I "got" the movie without them), but it has been suggested the movie makes much more sense and hangs together far better if you have.

This is a truly great film and worth it just for Sarah Michelle Gellar singing "Teen Horniness is not a crime", I'm guessing that at some point there will be a directors cut (or at least I hope so) but this is seriously worth checking out.

A little word of advice though, It definitely will make a lot more sense if you read the graphic novel prequels first, which I think is part of the problem that the cannes audience had.

I think the director said that this is his cut, hence the directors cut... I don't think it'd ever be popular enough to spend more time and money "enhancing".
definately worth it with the 3 graphic novels, but the people i saw it with didn't really have a clue what was going on as i didn't have the time to lend them the books.
