It's a game and yes, it's cheap but is it any good?

Well not really. It's almost two years old and even back then, it only got a "passable" 6.4/10 from IGN. Here are their closing comments:

As an action game, Space Siege works, but just barely. The combat looks bright and colorful on the surface and there is no shortage of menacing enemies and massive explosions, but the AI doesn't provide any real tactical challenge, the layout of the levels and missions is remarkably linear, and the range of abilities and weapons is too limited. There are far too few choices in Space Siege for it to qualify for the role-playing half of its genre. Players have the chance to pick a number of generic upgrades and limited skills, but the selection still feels a bit incidental to us, at least when compared to other games in this genre. The cybernetic choices are a bit more meaningful but the game's story needs to do more to put those choices up front early on.

In short: it looks good but it's very linear (especially for a game that claims "multiple game paths") and can get a little dull.

I'm not saying this isn't the best price for it but perhaps play the demo first and check to make sure you're not going to waste your money. Even cheap poo smells.

Dungeon Siege was a great game, which I am playing through again now, followed by the expansion, the sequel, and the sequel's expansion.

The reviews for Space Siege are that it's not as good, and works a bit differently, but for £1.35 I think I may give it the benefit of the doubt based on the above.

I can certainly see Oli's point of view, and I hate the statement "You can't go wrong for a quid", because you can, and you can easily miss out on something good if you do it often enough, but I am tempted to give it a crack, especially since I got the Dungeon Siege games for free =)
