I bought this when it was last posted at £19.99 if I remember correctly. Its good, the charge lasts long enough to do quite a big garden two or three times and it is powerful enough for dandelions etc. The only downsides to consider are that the line feed is a bit of a faff - more recently I am having to remove the spool to get more line out (not sure why as you are supposed to just have to press a button). Also I should mention that the head "diameter" is not as big as my old mains strimmer so it doesnt cut as far down then I am doing the edges.

Its still really convenient not having to get the mains cable out and untangle it though.

Hope that helps.

I'm confused! The OP is for a wired strimmer :whistling:

What rutson said.

Bought one last month and it serves it's purpose very well.

good strimmer. bought it last time when it was at the same price. However, as Longy has said, the line feed is awful. I lost all my line the first time I used it, couldnt get a replacement anywhere, so finally ended up buying a line from B&Q. I spooled it in myself and have got it wrong i.e. it doesnt get the line out automatically. so a bit of a pain . . .

I have to say I bought this strimmer in March when it was on sale and its cheap tat.

It went on fire on me the first time I used it. I dont know what its made from but its certainly not the Spear and Jackson of old. I should have known as soon as I took it out of the box.

I wouldnt recommend this for anyone. Buy it at your own risk.

Sorry guys, I didnt realise it was the wired version - my mistake my comments above were for the cordless version.

I'd hate to see their budget range if this is premium!!!

I have been using petrol ones for years - but using them on a large area of basically unused land results in their only lasting two to three years.

This one has more power than both the petrol ones I had - and beats the one posted here by almost 50%. Also - although the one posted here does not say its cutting size - from the picture this one is far larger at 32cm. So it does cost more - but will do the job in far less time.

Lastly - the cable advance on all of these things tends to be lousy. If you can fit commercial cable rather than domestic cable - it is thicker and lasts far longer - so you don't need to try to adjust it as often.

The wheel thing at the front is so you can turn it over to do the edges of lawns.

(look at the difference in cutting area)

just been using mine and it seems fine....£14.99 aint bad..

The spear and jackson is crap; mine broke on its 2nd use. Used all of the line too and its a royal pain in the butt to refeed the line, especially as there are 2!

Too it back to Woolies instore and got refunded £19.99. So £5 profit! (says its £19.99 on the box)

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Interested in buying that Argos one. Does it have one or 2 lines?
