Zut D'alors, Sacre Bleu!!!!!!

Definitely one for the romantic aircraft lovers!

Air France has announced that the Paris-London sector currently operated by an Airbus A320, will be served by the worlds largest passenger jet the A380, this is for a limited time only 12 june to 30th august

The 538 seat aircraft has been assigned to this route because it would otherwise sit idle for nearly 18 hours due to its current schedule. It will also benefit in training crew on the aircraft.

The flight numbers AF1980 and AF1981 will use an a380 between 12th June and 30th August 2010.

12 June to 30 June and 1 August to 30 August - every Saturday, Sunday and Monday
1 July to 31 July - every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday

Remember quidco at 1.5% and pay by debit card to avoid the £4.50p charge. If you really want to splash out business is available for £180 one way!

That's an amazing price actually.

beware of the ash cloud that could be on its way again - good price
#3
Woah! That's awesome! Shame I'm away during the offer period - I may have splashed out on a business seat to Paris for sh*ts and giggles!

Good stuff

Wow. Fantastic.
#6
Good price, fingers crossed the crew they are training aren't the pilots :w00t:

Keen on flying the A380, but on a LHR>CDG route it won't give enough time to appreciate the aircraft and flight. 40 mins flight time? won't be long enough to get your feet under the table (I mean feet under the chair in front of you)!! I had the chance to fly Singapore airlines A380 to SIN for £310 last year, but couldnt get the dates I wanted.

As soon as you've taken off and get to the height to make it okay to leave your seat, you'll have like 15 minutes to look around and do stuff and then it'll be seatbelt time for the descent...

Still, would be an experience, perhaps just to see if it's worth doing it for long haul? +heat

Look around? Do stuff? Like what? It's not like a cruise ship. As far as I could see, it's just like any plane....just bigger...and you don't notice that really. You do get a handy storage area next to your seat on top deck I suppose. It is cool sort of 'knowing' you're on a big'un though.

We did long haul and what made it for us was the quality of Singapore Airlines (deal posted here last year) and their great service and inflight entertainment system.

Must be cheaper ways of having a laugh on the toilet??

what a waste of a good plane.....using a massive plane like this which will end up being half full at best.

Voted HOT though

I was aboard the A380 traveling to Asia, much of my excitement about getting on the aircraft was killed when waiting my turn to get into the aircraft. As this is a 528 passenger monster, it took ages to board onto the aircraft and it was painful.... n btw I traveled by coach.

my advice, go for business class if you truly want to enjoy this flight... I seriously regretted not choosing business...

I am definitely booking meself a trip to Paris, as soon as a girl agrees to accompany. :)

Defo wouldnt fancy it myself, not with the GP7000 series engines that power the Air France A380's, better sticking with Singapore or Qantas airlines with good old Rolls-Royce Trent 900's :whistling:

whys this hot?

Heathrow is the worst airport in the world..fact
Bigger airplanes means longer boarding / getting off

I'd rather get Easyjail or Ryans Unfair than this rubbish

Oh and if you think the above 2 airlines have rude staff...just wait till you meet...Airfrance

Reminds me of a story someone who I'd been at school with told me. He was an aircraft enthuisiast and while he was at University in London Barry McGuigan was a boxing world champion and one of his title defences took place in Belfast (where McGuigan came from). Because of the number of people flying in from all over the word to get to it BA needed as much capacity on the London/Belfast shuttle as possible so they shuffled all their planes around and ended up making use of every plane available. The result of this was that they ended up using Concorde on the London/Glasgow shuttle that day. This person heard this reported on the radio and immediately got on the tube to Heathrow and got a shuttle ticket to Glasgow (at that time BA were trying to make these shuttles like trains so you could just turn up and buy a fixed price ticket at the gate) so flew to Glasgow (admittedly only subsonically) on Concorde for something like £50-ish! Can't remember whether he flew back again or had to choose a more econmical coach to get back!

think he is refering to the air france concorde crash, or the air france a320 crash at the airshow in 1988 (flight 296)

or maybe the a330 crash this week

or maybe the air france a330 crash last year that took off from brazil

need I go on ? :whistling:
