This is my first deal posting, so i apologise if its all screwed up. After looking around, this seems to be the cheapest avaiable price (especially offline). Just reserve and collect in store ...

They have never done for me ;-) Even picked up Daxter for 9.99 (reserved) once, when the instore price was 34.99 (still with original price sticker) . BTW picked up my copy of Spiderman 3 this afternoon :p .

May the 4th be with us...

At last! A decent Marvel Superhero title to get excited about!

But I'll have to wait another 2 weeks...

I was hoping to take home the GAME Exclusive edition of "Spider-Man The Movie 3" on the PS3 in time for this weekend, but all other formats (Xbox 360, Wii, DS, GameBoy Advance, PS2, PSP, & PC CD-ROM) of the title are to be released today (4 May 2007), but the PS3 version is (now) out on 18 May 2007 instead

FYI:

"Spider-Man 3"

PS. A not too radiant [I'm on a roll today!] glowing review of the PS3 title...

"First Look: Spider-Man 3 Game"

And the advantage of the GAME Collectors Edition...

"Spider-Man 3 Collectors Edition - GAME Exclusive"

* Exclusive playable character: New Goblin
* Spider-Man 3 movie behind the scenes footage and trailers
* Interview with Avi Arad, Spider-Man 3 producer
* B-Roll footage of talent VO session
* Collectable lenticular card

Not quite in the same league as an extra playable character, but HMV have an exclusive PS2 version too, btw:

"PlayStation 2 version includes this exclusive collector's 3D art card and shiny mirrored sleeve"

I played Spiderman 3 on the PS2 and believe me its an absolutely awful game. It has nothing in common with the PS3/360 versions. IGN gave the PS2 version 3.5/10 - it truly is that bad. They also gave the PS3/360 version 6/10, mainly because it doesnt add much over spiderman 2. Although the reader reviews disagree with the PS3/360 score and rate it higher. Its slightly buggy and ugly but its a fun game for 29.99 - i certainly wouldnt pay 40+ quid for it though. Probably 7.5/10.

The GAME exclusive £54.99 version is probably going to be £34.99 on less in a few weeks then. Perhaps I'll cancel my pre-order...

Yep I definately would cancel it at that price. Also without coming over all 360 fanboy (im still upset on missing out on the 299.99 PS3 deal :-( ), the PS3 version is apparently worse than the 360 version with quite alot of slowdown too :w00t: ...

Hmmm... not great :(

"Beware, True Believers"

6.0 out of 10: "Passable"

and

"This is, at best, a step sideways for the Spider-Man movie games.

The Good: Swinging through NYC is a lot of fun; lots of content to play through; city looks excellent.

The Bad: Combat is either boring or frustrating, depending on who you're fighting; camera constantly gets in the way; technical glitches and frame-rate issues; story is disjointed and doesn't tie itself to the film very well."

6.6/10 "fair"

Hmmm... I think cancelling the pre-order & waiting for a price drop may be a good idea.

What a pity.

I'm going to the cinema with my 3 kids tomorrow to see the movie; let's hope that is worth the admission price & the over-priced snacks/beverages.

LOL ... sorry to bring you down, but the film reviews are so,so. The first hour is really good, but then the last 1.5 hours is rather boring. Having 3 kids myself, I hate to be in your shoes if that is the case :giggle: ... Maybe you better sneak in their GBA/NDS/PSPs or whatever fully charged, just in case. Seriously though post what you think of the film, cause i was gonna take my son if its any good ;-) .

I had doubts whether my 4 year old would manage to keep a suitable interest throughout the (what sounds to be an overly-) long film, but yes... taking his GBA &/or NDS [and perhaps keeping my PSP hidden "for emergencies" as long as he doesn't break the glass) may be an option. His 6 year old & 8 year old brothers may do better, but thanks for the warning.

I'll certainly post a review... although this may involve more descriptions of the toilet cubicles rather than the auditorium audio/visual experience knowing the two youngest! :)

I did read a few days ago that Tobey Maguire said he wouldn't say 'no' to a fourth movie if offered. I think that's probably up to us tobe[y] decided...

The youngest of the three [ages: 4, 6 & 8] got his NDS Lite out just as the opening credits rolled, closely followed by my six year old wanting his console when his bag of sweets had gone. [To 'console' himself, obviously].

In total we [well, my eight year old] managed to see, at most, an hour and a half of the movie, before having to go home because it was "too scary" for the youngest, and "too loud" for my six year old.

My four year old wanted the toilet twice, and fortunately this coincided with the single trip made by my six year old.

So, apologies to anybody behind Row E at the 1pm showing of "Spider-Man 3" at the Showcase Cinema at Bluewater Shopping Centre on Sunday. Yes, it was us blocking your vision for two toilet trips & one strategically planned exit from the cinema with an hour of viewing still to go.

Not wanting to spoil anybody else's future viewing, from what we did see, it looked like a jumble of story lines all heading towards a major conflict of interests for [the now not-so] young Peter Parker, with one of the main characters still to make an appearance although his alter-ego was already taking up far too much screen-time up to the point of our departure for my liking.

Peter's original comic book girlfriend Gwen Stacy was post[humorously] introduced in this (third) instalment of the series, even though in the comics she met her death (having been thrown off the Brooklyn Bridge in the same way Mary Jane Watson had been in the first movie) early on in the long-running story.

Dr Kurt Connors (a.k.a The Lizard) was on-screen a little longer, but I guess we will have to wait until Spider-man 4, 5, or 6 for his super-villain tendencies to be more apparent.

The Sandman [William Baker/Flint Marko] was great casting (in Thomas Haden Church) I thought. The sand effects, especially during the scene when he gained his power were obviously computer-generated, but worth seeing all the same.

Bruce Campbell made yet another appearance, as did Stan Lee. Both were as good as ever. Take that comment either way. 'Nuff said!

I do intend to see the movie again, but not spending 1 x £6.25 + 3 x £5.25 + £2.40 credit card surcharge... a £3 eBay purchase in advance of the full commercial release (probably by Christmas... possibly in a triple movie/6xDVD set).

Anybody else considering going to the cinema, or have a review to offer?

BFN,

fp.

PS.
Interesting trivia #1:
This movie hosts the talents of all three of the Raimi brothers; Sam [Director], Ivan [co-Writer] & Ted [acting in the role of 'Hoffman'].

Interesting trivia #2:
Kirsten Dunst [as "MJ"] is blonde, and dyed her hair red, and Bryce Dallas Howard [as Gwen] is a redhead but portrayed a blonde in the movie!

"Friend or Foe"?

...no, not the Adam Ant solo single, apparently an upcoming Spider-man game title:

Let's hope it's better than the current effort.
