Hey all, 100g box of spenda 59p in Farm Foods today, dont kno if this is only my store (swansea) but this is a hell of a deal. Equivalent is usually about £3.19 in tesco, at the moment however, tesco have this for £2 something. . .

Still, this is an expensive item at a great price!!

£2.18 so can anyone substantiate it?
Is it coming to best before date?
#2
hmmmmm, looking on the date, I have a tesco one here and a boxed one. the cheap one from farm foods best before is june 2008. So this might be a reason. But still, a good family of 4 will use one of these a week lol
#3
but what is the best before on the Tesco one?
#4
still, 3 months, you'd expect it to go, it's not as if it's April
#5
sorry, tesco one i bought last week is 2010 - march

the one i got is 2008, june

Still 3 months left, will still be the same. 59p!!

Saving of almost £2 ??

Diabetics don’t have a great deal of choice ffs
#12
Maybe the people voting arent diabetic?
#13
Rowan you really are missing the big picture here aint u??

This is HOTUKDEALS!

Not HOT-U-CAN-PUT-YOUR-POINT-ACROSS.com

Voting hot if this ia good deal, and cold if it is not. Not cold if you think its bad for you etc. . .

And can you put up any evidence that this kind of sweetener is bad?? Because I dont think sucralose is the bad one, its asparame etc. . . .

Good price = HOT - Bad price = COLD - This is a good price. No matter what you think about the product.

I'm not trying to put a point across aircanman, I'm trying to put some information across to potentially help people who consume Splenda into making the most informed decision possible.

So you only put one side of the argument well that’s informed

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucralose

Just the first part:

Sucralose has been accepted by several national and international food safety regulatory bodies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Joint Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization Expert Committee on Food Additives, The European Union's Scientific Committee on Food, Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada and Food Standards Australia-New Zealand (FSANZ). According to the Canadian Diabetes Association, one can consume 15 mg/kg/day of Sucralose "on a daily basis over a ... lifetime without any adverse effects".[12] For a 150 lb person, 15 mg/kg is about 1000 mg, equivalent to about 75 packets of Splenda or the sweetness of 612 gm or 2500 kcal of sugar.

Anything in a big enough dose is bad for you, and this is a deal forum NOT a medical forum

You're right, it is informed: I put one side of the arguement across.. the other side to what you are putting across... so that people now have both sides of the story. Not everyone blindly trusts the FDA you know. Bextra was FDA approved, then later on the FDA changed their mind saying that it caused heart problems.

I am sure all approval committees have made mistakes thalidomide was a BIG mistake

NOT just the FDA U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Joint Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization Expert Committee on Food Additives, The European Union's Scientific Committee on Food, Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada and Food Standards Australia-New Zealand (FSANZ)

As for the BBE date, it's sugar based so not really that much of an issue. Hot deal, shame I can't partake as I don't have a store close enough.
