From Single Cell to Galactic God, evolve your creature in a universe of your own creations.
Play through Spore's five evolutionary stages: Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space. Each stage has its own unique style, challenges, and goals. You can play how you choose — start in Cell and nurture one species from humble tidepool organism to intergalactic traveler, or jump straight in and build tribes or civilizations on new planets. What you do with your universe is up to you.
Spore gives you a variety of powerful yet easy-to-use creation tools so you can create every aspect of your universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even starships. While Spore is a single-player game, your creations are automatically shared with other players providing a limitless number of worlds to explore and play.
Features

CREATE Your Universe from Microscopic to Macrocosmic — From tide pool amoebas to thriving civilizations to intergalactic starships, everything is in your hands.
EVOLVE Your Creature through Five Stages — It's survival of the funnest as your choices reverberate through generations and ultimately decide the fate of your civilization.
EXPLORE Other Players' Galaxies — Will your creature rule the universe, or will your beloved planet be blasted to smithereens by a superior alien race?
SHARE with the World — Everything you make is shared with other players and vice versa, providing tons of cool creatures to meet and cool places to visit.

I have been playing/ buying games for so long now (more than 30 years from C64 and Sinclair up to modern day), and in all that time I have never been so disappointed with a game compared to the pre-hype and what it could have been. I doubt that this game would have held up well compared to what it was like at the time, but it is only £3.74 which is less than a pint in some places......

If I remember rightly when you bought this game you could only install it three times, and if you changed the hardware set up on your machine (even slightly) that would count as one of your three, and the only way to get more was to ring them up on a premium rate number and ask them really very very nicely..

Got it when it first came out. Sounded like it was going to be a really great game. Was a complete let down. Avoid.

Aye the memories of that pain. My key mysteriously reset a few times though :P

I have the game on Origin (not steam) and from memory there's not that nasty PoS DRM in there anymore. Think it uses standard securerom. Just links to your profile and that's it. I've installed my origin version on about 7 "different" machines (as hardware changes like said previously counts as a change, a graphics card and a hard drive tripped my disc version before :L) Well worth it for £3.74 though

I thought they dumped that DRM very early on; after it quickly became one of the most pirated games of all time due to it

Was considering it but has now expired. Oh well, money saved. My Steam library is bigger than Santa's sack anyway.
