Firstly please don't vote cold based on the club you do/ don't support.

This is a charity event I thought might be worth promoting on here as I hadn't heard of it until I got an email about the event this evening.

pity they never have anything like those prices for their proper matches

Wouldn't fill the Glaziers pockets with cash though would it. :-P

Voted hot – I will be there. If anyone’s interested in football history check out the book I published two years ago to help raise funds. It’s now been reprinted and includes a chapter on Man U and the Glazers. Go to ebay and type in Sport Relief Football Book to bid – every penny is automatically donated! Being the author I suppose I could be accused of bias but you should find it very readable and authoritative - I lecture in this area, after all.

Sport Relief and Manchester United Foundation today announce that chart-topping pop acts, Tinchy Stryder and The Hoosiers will be performing a string of their Top Ten hits, alongside The Saturdays, at the one-off fundraising event, United Relief Live: The Big Red Family Day Out at Old Trafford on Saturday 1st May.

Also announced to play in the Manchester United XI versus The Rivals charity football match, are Ronan Keating, Austin Healey and Manchester United ‘99 treble-winning hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The ultimate family day out will be raising money to fund the crucial work of Sport Relief and Manchester United Foundation.

Dwight Yorke said: " I’m urging everyone to join in the fun and come along to United Relief Live: The Big Red Family Day Out on 1st May at Old Trafford. Not only will it be a fantastically fun event but you can feel proud of raising money to help poor and disadvantaged people living unimaginably tough lives across the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.”

Manchester United legends set to take part include Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Lee Sharpe, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke. The footballing aces will be joined by Manchester United celebrity supporters including sprint athlete Darren Campbell, X Factor finalist Ollie Murs, actors Max Beesley and Ricky Whittle (Calvin Valentine in Hollyoaks), radio presenter Chappers, and Boyzone’s Ronan Keating.

Tackling some of their greatest rivals is opposing squad, The Rivals, featuring former England stars Peter Beardsley and Des Walker as well as celebrities including Boyzone’s Keith Duffy, comedians Jason Manford and Paddy McGuinness, former rugby player Austin Healey, and TV presenter George Lamb.

Each squad comprises 16 celebrities and World Cup greats. With less than six weeks for the players to train and bond before the big game, the pressure is on to get match-fit and performance-ready.

Kirsty Gallagher and Anita Rani will bring all the action from the sideline, delivering a live analysis of the beautiful game to a 60,000-strong crowd.

Britain’s Got Talent’s dance troupe, Flawless, will also be performing at half-time.

The charity event will take place at Manchester United's home ground, Old Trafford, on Saturday 1st May.

Tickets are priced from £15 for adults, £5 for children and are on sale
