dont buy from these jokers, bought something on 5th dec as a gift for xmas, the delivery time 7/10 working days, plenty of time i thought to arrive for xmas. But absolutely no mention of nearly 3 weeks dispatch time, got email 15 minutes ago it has been dispatched today. So now having to brave the weather and crowd to get something else,no idea what.first and last time i use this pathetic company and would not recomend them in any way shape or form, spen the extra bit and buy from a uk company.
worst mail order firm ever!.

In all fairness, buying on 5th December for Christmas delivery was a poor choice. No Chinese supplier is going to get your stuff here on time.

I know it's cheap, no screen etc but how on earth do you know what recording. Just point it a certain direction and hope for the best?
It has a tv out port. You could connect it to a small 9inch LCD screen while you set it up. That's provided you have such a screen though. If not, place it, then check the recording on your computer.
I've only got a large 9" but i think it could work!

Worth a punt at the price, although the mounting bracket doesn't look designed to fit to the windscreen of a car, and I don't fancy drilling into my dashboard oO

I've been looking for ages for a smallish rechargeable dashcam. But this one looks a bit naff. Reading the reviews of this sounds like the footage is of low quality and battery lasts just 70 mins. Also is this for a car ? Good for the money though OP,

Might buy a cheap smartphone and a car mount from ebay and just record video on that ?!

To be fair they don't make it clear that there is a waiting period between ordering and dispatch (where the 7-10 days actually comes in). Totally understandable at this time of the year the waiting period would be long, mine was about a week back in November. 5th of December is cutting it pretty close

To be fair I have purchased lots of stuff from gearbest, read stories of people not receiving items etc, I have received all my items in reasonable time except one, I emailed and received a full refund next day. They said they had tracked it to delivery company in England and then no trace, I thought feeble excuse and guess what it arrived next day, obviously been opened including box, couldn't fault customer service. I emailed to tell them it arrived and they let me have it half price.

or just use your current mobile?
I downloaded an app called Daily Roads (after someone on here recommended it), not used it yet but it does run in the background so you can have your sat nav running in the foreground.
the FOV totally depends on your phone lens though. I bought a cheap fish eye lens off ebay which improves the FOV a little.

Obviously PQ is nowhere near a Mobius and colour accuracy, exposure etc seem a bit off however more than acceptable I'm sure if you simply need to prove you were not at fault in an accident. However, PQ at night may be off in common with many of these dirt cheap cameras.

They are based in China. And I never believe the "Warehouse in the UK." because the stock will always be out of stock, resourcing from another Warehouse scenario. The rule of thumb for buying anything abroad is to expect it to take 4 weeks regardless of their promises. If you get it sooner, well done!

Banggood and gearbest, aliexpress, etc are fine so long as you factor in the delivery time.

But these cameras are crap. I had one for a remote control plane (I think this type of thing is their real intended use) but quality is awful.

Double cough, Definitely buy a mobius we have three and they have performed flawlessly for well over 2 years now.
They can also be placed where they are almost impossible to be seen from outside the car by the local crack head looking for a quick smash and grab.

Yeah could use my mobile. Thing is its a huge note 4 and I really want something small and discreet ideally. Graham1979 suggested a Mobius which I've never heard of but looks small enough to tuck in unnoticed behind the rear view mirror. I've just sent an email to hobbyrc to see if they stock a mount for a car or if the supplied kit is adaptable for a car.
Will check out that app though, thanks for the suggestion.

Would have thought the infra-red LEDs would just reflect off the inside of the windscreen at night...?

Last time I went to the Gearbest site they harvested my email address from my browser, same link a friend of mine started getting emails from them for an address he doesn't use much any more.... Not keen on this practice - hence won't buy from them.

Btw I have a Mobius as well for a few years, I don't know if anything as surpassed it as a cheap good quality cam. It has no screen, but the LEDs tell you what it's doing. I have mine so it starts recording when it gets power , connected to USB from lightersocket.

Take a look on YouTube at 'techmoans' full review of the mobius camera, it was this review that made me decide on buying mine.

Not so sure. I've only tried it with the small 9" screens. Every time I've gone to use the large 9", there's always been an issue. There's definitely problems with the bigger exact same measurements. Just can't work out what.
