After taking ages to decide what I wanted for the kitchen I missed the Boom last time it was cheap and I've been waiting a few months hoping the price might fall again. Google Products show it cheaper but they're all + VAT while this includes VAT.

Good Price! Love my Squeezebox Boom! got it all set up through my surround sound and it rocks! :)

This on the face of it looks to be a Radio (an expensive one at that) with a afew bells and whistles thrown it......

Sorry not for me

It's a streaming music player. Plays music from your PC and it's a great sounding bit of kit. Get a couple of them and you can sync them up to play your music collection in multiple rooms, great for parties.

Prices really fluctuate though, i've seen it for £105 at it's lowest!

Looks like you can use this code on any of their products, e.g. reduces the new Squeezebox Touch (admittedly out of stock) from £259 to £207.20 :)

Am I correct in thinking the difference between the Squeezebox and the Boom is that the Boom has a built in amp and speakers? If I wanted to run it through my own amp and speakers would it be better to go for the original Squeezebox. also, what benefit would it give over a £40 Roku Soundbridge?

Yup, Boom has amp and speaker built in, very good ones

If you want to use your own amp you can choose the Duet (plain box receiver with wireless colour remote), Classic/SB3 or the new Touch (replaces the Classic). I have the Classic with my amp, it has a digital display unlike the Duet. If you ever need the colour remote it can be bought seperately from the Duet but alot of people chose to buy an iPod Touch instead and run a 3rd party app on it to control all their players

I just wish they made one which with a HDMI output so you could control your music from your TV, having a piddly little colour screen seems a bit odd when many people have a LCD next to their HiFi. Having said that, I love my SB3, best thing that every happened to my CD collection.

Yes it was very briefly at £105

I managed to pick one up (and despite the quoted 4 week delivery it arrived within a few days).

Great piece of kit. I am after the Duet now. That has been as low £149.
