You can have a drink, and not get pisssed up and have a fight. Only a few peoplw in society out of the majority let the side down. St Patrick day isnbt about getting ****, its about celebrating the saint (funny that this saint is Irish), that Irish celebrate the occasion.
Om the up note, it means I dont haft to drink 4pints, which will save me 8 quid lol

Thanks for your considered reply. Its probably in regard to the expats and/or decendents getting all misty eyed about somewhere they have never actually been.
I do take your point about the drinking and fighting bit though.

LOL, all this over a hat X)

God.....I would rather talk to 'utter cretins' then talk to some stick up prejudice people.

I got the impression that the poster of the cretin comment was not talking about Irish people, who are utterly entitled to celebrate the day of the Saint of their country (whatever his original nationality). I interpreted the comment as 99% the wearers of these hats (in my area) are simply chavs who "celebrate" St Patricks Day by getting as p***ed as they can and being obnoxious in the local Irish pubs. In fact, cretins is a polite way of describing them!!

Im not sure that is entirely true. As chav would drink such a quality beer as guiness. Its a perticular taste, un like any wife beater subsetue. The girls just come in to still the guys hats. lol!

Shame then that the original poster hasn't the courage of his convictions to come back on and explain who he was referring to ....
if he's interested he can call into the Tyneside Irish Club...next weekend would be good...he can watch the match from Dublin...then at halftime he can enlighten everyone ...
