I thought I'd try out barbecuing meat with a smokey flavour, by using a smoker box, this seems a sensible price for a stainless steel box.

I'm a cheapskate so I've bought some Applewood smoking chips from Poundland.

I'm going to follow David's advice on Amazon:
"5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully smoked salmon in 20 mins including warm up time, 21 May 2016
By David

This review is from: Barbecue Wood Chip BBQ Smoker Box
Used on a Weber gas BBQ. I started with soaked chips but it took 30 mins to heat up and start smoking. I read an challenge to the wet chip method - only the surface wets and they will only smoke (burn) when dry so why bother wetting? I tried dry chips and bingo! Beautifully smoked salmon in 20 mins including warm up time."

I still think real charcoal is the best, but each to their own.

Smoke wise it is slightly preferable however, I think most people would agree the faff of getting the coals just right to cook on and then realising they have run out before you finished cooking your meat is quite frustrating.

Good deal. In a pinch make a parcel out of tin foil with the wood chips in and slash it a few times.

Agree with this sentiment. I do the same thing and just poke holes, though these are more environmentally friendly I suppose and the price is pretty good!
