Stainless steel "soap" really does work. Good price too :)
#3
I've been meaning to get one of these for a while, thanks!
#4
How does this actually work, wont it make you hands smell like when you hold loads of loose change?
#5

the sulphur from the onion/garlic/fish/whatever is attracted to and bind with one or more of the metals in stainless steel.. Onions and garlic contain amino acid sulphoxides, which form sulphenic acids, which then form a volatile gas (propanethiol S-oxide), which forms sulphuric acid upon exposure to water. These compounds are responsible for burning your eyes while cutting onions and also for their characteristic scent. The sulphur compounds bind to the steel, then the odour is removed from your fingers

Quite obvious really! lol

Very interesting explanation, but you do need to get out more!! :whistling:

Thanks for the technical info though Jamie.

DealExtreme aren't particularly reliable on missing and/or damaged items, they have a tendency to ignore their customers and not bother, saying that, they're pretty good if the goods turn up and work. Caveat emptor.

I e-mailed them with a problem order, got a reply within a couple of hours and it's in the process of being storted out now

This isn't a bad deal, and as Jamie has said these things actually work despite sounding like a scammy JML product. But I think I'll just stick to running my fingertips along my stainless steel sink whilst washing my hands!

handy for in the shower get the arm pits done :)

We have one of these, it can degrade over time in it's effectiveness, but for 2squid you can't moan.

Does it get rid of the smell after having an occassional cigarette? :whistling:
#16
Never heard of this, but if it works that's Genius! Would be great on the armpits if it works. Would be good if they did a smaller one,or a pointy bit at the end, because my ears stink and this would detoxify them by the sound of it! lol. As for the "smell like when you hold loads of loose change" that is my pet hate! Don't mind most smells, but that carrying a wad of change in warm/sweaty hands, that's the one I really need to wash off

* I was wondering, after this removes the smell, does it then smell like the smell that it has removed?

Good for you, loads of us didn't, I spent a week sending them photos and emailing them and they just stopped responding, that was my sixth and final order from them, the other 5 were fine.

I haven't found these things to be much cop to be honest - I saw the earlier explanation but I was under the impression that they work by the rough, slightly milled surface of the stainless steel breaking down the bonds of the long organic odour molecules that make smells...which might amount to the same thing as the earlier person said, but maybe not!

They are kak at getting rid of petrol/diesel fumes from those fuel pump moments.

where do you get running water at a petrol station? you did use it with water right?

I know this sounds tight...but I once read that using a stainless steel spoon or even the base of a steel sink does the same job. The latter does conjur up some images you wouldn't want the neighbours to see, mind you....

I found this website with some very interesting ideas - check out the zillopop lol

http://www.electronichealing.co.uk/products/smell_buster.htm

As the product on the above website is basically the same thing that is being sold by dealextreme then it could probably be used as a room deodouriser too (and all the other uses at the bottom of the website) but I wouldn't go sucking on it lol

Funnily enough I'm currently at the point of ending a dispute with them (my order vanished after I ordered end of November last year).

They eventually (after much hounding) promised a replacement order and gifts by way of apology...and amazingly my items turned up last week - a small delay of almost half a year - but not the freebie.

I'm chasing them for the freebie (to the total value of $4 - that's all they'll give me:w00t:)...so might plump for two of these - one for each hand!

If I order now it might come for Christmas.....:whistling:

They sell these in the Pound Shop, have seen it in more than one store, and yep I bought one. It's not bad, great after chopping onions.
