Next cheapest that I can find is £71.89, so a bit of a bargain methinks

This boxed set represents a full selection of master director Stanley Kubrick's greatest and most famous films, from his early days to his final movie. The collection includes: LOLITA (1962), DR. STRANGELOVE (1964). 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968), A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (1971), BARRY LYNDON (1975), THE SHINING (1980), FULL METAL JACKET (1987), and EYES WIDE SHUT (1999). See individual titles for descriptions and technical details.
The release also features the documentary STANLEY KUBRICK: A LIFE IN PICTURES, a vastly entertaining look at Kubrick, made by the people who loved him most and knew him best. Jan Harlan, who worked with Kubrick for more than 30 years, put the film together with the help of his widow, Christiane Kubrick, so it includes fabulous home movies of Kubrick as a young boy, as well as shots of the photographs he took when he worked for Look magazine before beginning his stellar film career. The film examines each of Kubrick's films, from the early short DAY OF THE FIGHT and FEAR AND DESIRE through FULL METAL JACKET and EYES WIDE SHUT, interviewing people associated with each project. Harlan also sheds light on some of Kubrick's unfinished works, including ARYAN PAPERS, NAPOLEON, and A.I., which Kubrick wanted Steven Spielberg to direct--and after Stanley's death, Spielberg did indeed make the film, with Harlan serving as a producer. Clips are shown from each film, along with behind-the-scenes footage, both as stills and live action, showing Kubrick on the job, illuminating his work process and revealing him to be more of a much-loved friend and colleague than a reclusive tyrant.

Yup

Different Boxset

Some films the same / some different. This one has the special editions. I posted the other one also a while back. Quite like Kubrick

The one at Amazon has Eyes Wide Shut, A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining and the documentary Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures. So 5 films and the documentary: £16.98

Whereas the one at HMV has Lolita, Dr Strangelove, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut and the documentary Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures. So 8 films and the documentary: £26.99

So it all depends if you want the extra 3 movies.. but in saying that, the one at Amazon does seem to be the special editions. Either that or HMV haven't bothered with detailing the special features.

I have the HMV one - no special editions.

This is COLD.

The 10DVD, 5 film boxset is much, much better for being cheaper as well as having far more extras for the films, which are well worth the watch. You would only get a Stanley Kubrick boxset if you were a fan of Kubrick, in which case the extras on the 10 dvd set are essential. If you buy the other, more expensive set, you won't have the option to get the extras later.

Also, with the money you save by buying the cheaper set, you can buy up Dr Strangelove and Lolita if you want them.

But the 10-disc boxset also has 3 less movies (Barry Lyndon, Dr. Strangelove and Lolita). If you're just interested in the films, this is a better deal.

And you'd totally miss out on Barry Lyndon, one of the most beautifully constructed and filmed pieces of cinema ever made. It had lenses made for the filming that were only previously used by NASA on deep space telescopes (to capture darker scenes using only natual lighting). It even makes Ryan O'Neill look good, being as it plays up to his failings as an actor and reflects them in the portrayal of Barry. Vastly overlooked but it being between A Clockwork Orange and The Shining only adds to it's pedigree. A worthy alternative to his proposed (and shelved) Napoleon picture.

Hot price for some of the best examples of cinema you can watch. Now, release them ALL in HD please.

Gunark, you obviously didn't actually read my post. You WOULDNT totally miss out on Barry Lyndon, because as I suggested you can always buy Barry Lyndon separately. If you want the extras and commentaries included in the five films, which are absolutely excellent and essential to any Kubrick fan, the lesser filmed boxset is the only choice, because you CAN'T buy the extras separately.

Sorry mate! I've read and re-read it tho but I can't see where you say that. Maybe I'm being dumb?
