I dont see it as a duplicate post.

I use these at work (Different type) does it fire out a red dot to see where its taking its measurement from?
I would buy one if it does.

Found some spec here... http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/77-018-intellimeasure-estimator/path/laser-levels-range-finders-testers-2

At only 5% accuracy it seems a bit pointless to me, surely you can just pace a room out to get a similarly rough estimate?

And anyway that wouldn't have made it 5% accurate but 95% with 5% error margin. Admittedly that would still be complete kack, 2 feet at 12m. Terrible

agreed - but at the correct accuracy its 99.95% accurate which is to within 6cm at 12m

Still not accurate enough for measuring things like carpet i suppose.

Additional information regarding Ultrasonic Measures
Ultrasonic measures are not as accurate as laser measures. Any reference to laser in the description of ultrasonic measures relates to a laser pointer and not a laser measure. As a general rule ultrasonic measures usually do not cope with distances over 15m and become less accurate the further away an object is.

Ultrasonics are not suitable for extremely accurate measurements and give a more general measurement rather than a precise one. They also require a fair size surface to bounce a signal off and small or varied surfaces will not give a good result.

They are suitable for indoor use only and are ideal for room measurements where large flat walls are being pointed at. In all other cases a laser measure should be considered.

As this one does not seem to have a laser pointer built in how could you be sure what surface you are measuring to?
