This may be rather more than many readers want to spend on a St. Valentine's day gift for their wife or significant other, but it is a really good price for a 130A MIG welder that can be used either with or without gas (the normal price is about £400).

What's better? MIG or TIG?

If you are asking the question I assume you are not a professional welder, in which case the answer has to be MIG, because it is easy enough for the layman (with some practice and a few You Tubes) to pick up, whereas TIG is a difficult skill that takes a very long time to learn.

Don't know if this is a good deal or not but voted it hot as the comment about Valentines day made me chuckle :)

Have some heat. Don't need one and not buying one.

Could well be a useful bargain for someone that does.

I don't really need one either - but I don't think I'll be able to stop myself buying it :-)

Well that is the 'curse' of looking on hukd! Although I suppose if it is usually £400 then someone could potentially sell it on for a bit less than that in a few days and make some profit. Depends what the demand is for this type of item. Also the possibility of being scammed though. So probably not worth the hassle to make a quick few pounds.

I don't think there's any money to be made buying and reselling these migs. They will be cheap Chinese migs and you can buy similar ones around the same price. However, if you have a limited amount of welding to do on say a car restoration project, or you just need to get your car through an mot, something like this would probably be up to the job.

The mig-welding.co.uk forum is a fantastic resource for anyone starting welding or needing advice.

Will this be up to scratch.

TIG is used with a filler rod, much like oxy-acetylene welding. Mig uses a wire fed up through the torch.
TIG is a much more expensive system, not really for the amateur.

My finger accidentally 'like' your post. Anyone any idea how to remove an accidental 'like'? Cheers.
