I've bailed on this one and ordered the 8650 from Printerland because compatable toners for that are very slightly less ( 0.4pp vs 0.6pp for black) and there are no if's, buts and inaccurate specs on it like the 9015 one in this deal from Staples...says 600dpi print and 2400dpi print in diff places. Can't be arsed with the hassle.
What about the poor print quality?
Going to see how bad it is I guess. Just lost my rag with the specs confusion.

Just got mine today. Image quality doesn't seem that bad. It's not photo quality but good enough for homework and projects. Fax is kind of redundant though but seems good enough for what I paid.

Bear in mind!!

Purchase from amazon does not qualify for the £100 cashback. You will end up paying the full price if buy from amazon. This has been confirmed in the other thread.

As you must have watched this TV in your own or in someone else's home to be able to make such a helpful statement. Can you please tell people which part of the picture you thought was not as good as you expected it to be ?
It seems strange that I have had this model of TV for just over 12 months and everyone who has seen it is amazed at how good the picture is. The 3D is good, the 4K is amazing and it upscales SD to look better than HD did on my previous HD TV.
So if anyone is considering buying this TV then I do not think you will get a better TV for the price and if you like watching 3D then this is possibly one of the last 3D sets you can get as all the manufacturers are foolishly dropping the option from their latest TVs.
sound quality is terrible

Not many TVs have decent sound these days due to the speakers being too small.
This TV is better than many and if I watch something like an action film I feed it through my surround system.
Most people buy a TV for the picture as it is simple to add a sound bar or a surround system to improve the sound but you can not do anything to improve the picture.
Fortunately this picture does not need improving at all and is great value and extremely watchable and moderately good to listen to for the price.

Probably getting cold votes because it's expensive to run with the non brand toner racking in at £30+ at the normal reputible 3rd party cartridge suppliers. If you're prepared to risk ebay type places then it's a good deal cheaper but it's does carry some risk but they also mostly make no mention of how much use they will provide. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-Black-TN2320-Toner-Cartridges-for-Brother-HL-L2300D-HL-L2320D-HL-L2340DW-/181729458706?hash=item2a4feb7a12:g:ap8AAOSwqu9VPzyS

I don't think £19.50 for a compatible toner is expensive http://www.inkwow.co.uk/brother-hl-l2340dw-toner-cartridges-2?gclid=CjwKEAiAoaXFBRCNhautiPvnqzoSJABzHd6hq-7uOjwv8Aim69jY7mmahv0Gi5Zh2W6DSm1QHaWRqxoCK-vw_wcB

Re-read the comment, I pointed out where you can get 4 of them for £20. However, buying from a reputable firm with a history of quality goods is important to many people. The provider you've linked to I've never heard of and further to that has as far as I can tell after a quick check got not feedback in terms of customer ratings (at least not on any places I'd consider to place much trust in.

You complained about why this deal was getting no heat, the toners are not great value compared to other comparable printers and I've pointed out why.

Thoughtful
The issue with this printer is that the footprint is just the same as the larger 8 series, and the only size dimension smaller is the height. To do this it sacrifices the size of the toner cartridges which are far smaller than the 8 machines.
For not much more money they are a much better buy.
I have to agree with you.
Recently got 8650CDW for around £100 after £100 cashback, £16 quidco and £15 off code.
duplex print, colour, laser.
duplex scan too, scan both sides at the same time, paper only go in once. (can automatically skip empty page which make bulk scanning mixed single side and duplex side much easier). With ADF as well.
All my documents are now digital now. Recycled a whole cabin of documents this week.
Could not be happier. It is better than my 3150CDW, and this 3140CW. Bear in mind, 8650 is twice the height compare to 3140 or 3150.
Comes with full set catridge rather than half capacity entry ones.
The cashback deal is still alive.
For around £100, 8650CDW is a much better deal.
where did you got 8650CDW from with full set of toners?
Thanks
I heard that from someone before. I just checked Brother website, I was wrong.
Inbox Toners - 2,500 pages* BK 1,500 pages* C, M, Y, Standard Toner Black (TN-321BK) - 2,500 pages*, Standard Toners Colour (TN-321C / M / Y) - 1,500 pages*
High Yield Toner Black (TN-326BK) - 4,000 pages*, High Yield Toners Colour (TN-326C / M / Y) - 3,500 pages*
Not the high yield toners in the box. But a lot better than the starter toner comes with 3140CW.

Brother are sneaky and they really are a full high yield toner in the box, and you should get around 4000 pages out of them by resetting them. Check the urefilltoner link above, or the 8650 one I posted in the original Viking thread.

Can anyone recommend a full set of decent compatible cartridges for the 8650CDW?
Cheers
Just googled, found this. Seems to be reasonable price. I have not yet need to change them. And I do not expect to change them for a long time.https://www.doitwiser.co.uk/brother-mfc-l8650cdw-toner-cartridges-uk.html
Please bear in mind that, they are higher capacity than 3140 or 3150, 4000/3500/3500/3500.
Thanks, I had Googled, but wanted a tried and tested recommendation before I buy the printer.

Cheers

Seems my deal has pointed me (if) i buy a laser printer to a better model.. bought an ink jet but it's ink hungry !

ink jet is more costly in printing, also caused by ink dry up, and because of so may block nozzle if not used frequently.

I had three ink jets had the same problem in a line.

Never ever ink jet for me again. Laser only.

didn't see anything like this in Norwich yesterday :( lots of other stuff on 'offer' though , but pretty much the dregs to be honest... I did pick up some Dlink sensors and siren @ half price or so.. do I NEED the hub?? the camera and sensors appear to be working fine without?? what am I missing/overlooking?? (I wanted the security starter set but despite the box on the shelf they haven't got that :( so am sans hub at the moment :/
Thanks OP for posting the deal and alerting us to the offer, regardless of detail.

Voted hot because 'cold' voters are knobs
Look at my post #2
then consider the OP would have seen my comment & replied almost 2 hrs later (no I'm not having a go about how long it took to reply)
and then his reply was just which store
Nothing about the make/model
Nothing about how many left
Just where it was
and you think other people are "knobs" because they chose to vote cold because of the lack of information
Had OP given sufficient information then nobody could question
+1 No info on store, model of drive and the only pic shows an empty space and a blurry tag, so not even proof that any were ever there.
Cold obviously. The knobs are the ones who vote hot like lemmings who vote on price alone
The thread could of got the positive attention it needed
One of my deals for a 4tb @ £90 went over 500
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/seagate-backup-plus-hard-drive-4tb-currys-89-97-2569209
And when I found stock (see comment #3) I informed others where
Then how many were left in stock (see comment #13) after I rode 35miles approx to collect ;)

But hey ho it's not about the heat ;) it's about "content" and "price"
And ITT there's little content but a very good price

OP's loss
Last time someone posted a staples deal it was national so don't see why this isn't

Very good price but check the consumables, I have the colour version of this and it eats through toner (it wastes loads that fills up the bin) and the imager unit is not cheap either so like most low cost led printers it's not really worth replacing those items once they're worn out.

It's cheap enough to refill the cartridge yourself - try these chaps: http://www.urefilltoner.co.uk/toner_refill_products.aspx?manufacturer=Samsung&engine=SAM2020&printer=M2070%2c+M2070FW%2c+M2070W - they've got it all sussed. I've used their methods several times, works great.
Had this for a year, very happy - works absolutely fine with windows 10.
Op price has now increased to £89.99
Still cheaper than other retailers just thought you may want to update the price :)
I have one for an year now, 8) great mono-all-in-one for infrequent user - no more wasted ink

I think you can get this on The Works sale for £1.
Sharpharp
IMO not worth it for even £1.50. The paper is super thin and there isn't much distance between the lines.
RED = Danger. It's no wonder Staples are in trouble, they never moved out of the 90s and still have the hefty prices to catch. I blame Theo from Dragons Den for letting this slide.

Theo owns Ryman, not Staples.
I think that staples UK has been sold to another company Hilco Capital but will continue to trade.

I have model TAB-P806W (V1.0)
seems pretty good, as it was display model got it for £40. They didn't have any other models apart from the 10" which was £119 I think.

got the 8" display model, mine has windows 8.1 and a micro hdmi and a lead, not sure what thats for. Dont have any manual with it other than a quickstart leaflet.Did it come with a manual? I can't find one in the docs folder.

This model is the Windows 10 one, so which model do you have as the older Windows 8.1 ones were a different tablet and design. When I bought mine the store had both.

Ok so, I'll give my initial impressions of this tablet to give you a rough idea whether you want to buy one or not but for £44.30 it's a steal. I usually hate small, cheap and tacky tablets but the spec alone is decent for a Windows 10 tablet and is even better than the Connect 9" tablet (1GB RAM).

So I rang my local Bolton store who reported he had one left but had already been opened, I disregarded this and thought everything would be intact (which he confirmed). I collected the tablet but sadly it looked like a display model which hadn't been mentioned to me - the whole casing was scratched to high hell, the screen was a mess and the tablet kept shutting off.

I rang the Warrington store who reported they had 8 to 9 all fully sealed. I asked him to put one aside and explained the situation. He called the Bolton store and authorised the replacement. I went up today to collect it and it was indeed fully sealed and in brand-new condition.

Just got it home and this one is much much better. It has a pre-applied screen protector, micro-usb cable, power adapter and an OTG cable (Micro-USB to Full Sized) and bagged. Setting up was a breeze and no different to a regular Windows 10 Laptop or Desktop from an OEM.

The tablet on first impressions, is fast and fluid. It does include the Point of View wallpapers but they're actually quite decent compared to most OEM wallpapers etc. Nothing pre-installed that bloats it down either so it's all good. I'm new to Windows 10 on a tablet but it's no different to a regular desktop.

Touch screen is adequately responsive to the touch as are the buttons - even has a touch sensitive Windows logo as the "home button". I'm yet to take the pre-applied screen protector off to try it bare but it'll be left on for a little while. The construction is all plastic so if you're looking for aluminium or similar, look elsewhere. You can tell it's a £40 tablet and not something that costs over £100 but the build-quality seems solid and has a nice weight to it.

The speakers are nothing special. Ok for times where you want to watch a human being attacked by a Cat or similar that your mum has sent you over Facebook, deeming it as "Funny" or light music but it's quite lifeless and somewhat quiet in comparison to say TV speakers. Obviously, it's expected on a small tablet anyway.

I'm continuing to use it. It's worth the price stated and in some cases this little Atom may be able to run the likes of HL2 (around 40 to 60fps) etc so gaming is possible.

All in all, I'm yet to use it for a while but it's a keeper at £44. As stated, don't expect the world and you'll be fine.

you can not expect the same level of specs as a surface!

You would have to be on a different Planet to even consider comparing an under £45 Windows Tablet, to that of a £500-£1000 Windows Surface Tablet costing at least 10-20+ times the cost of the OP's Deal?. :-(

Hehehehehehehe.

For one, I did not say the surface pro, I said surface (which would mean RT or version 3 with an Atom processor) I own both a surface RT and a surface pro. So I know what features they have. I was responding to the question about if it had an hdmi port, which it does not. But thanks for pointing out that this do not compare to those as well. At £44.30 it is a fantastic value budget Windows 10 Tablet and if you can find a better and cheaper windows tablet, please post the deal!!

Any HUK geeks know if this is easy to steam / play movies on from tablets and phones ?

You'd need either the device to have a HDMI output, or you'd need something like a chromecast to do the streaming while you control it from your phone. This is no harder or easier than your average TV.
This post badly needs some specs, so here are the key bits:
2700 Lumen output
1024x768 resolution
200W lamp, 5000-6000 hour life
Manual zoom and focus
Interfaces "Cinch audio in, RGB in, S-Video in, Component in, Composite in, HDMI in, VGA in, Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11b/g/n (optional), USB 2.0 Type B, USB 2.0 Type A"
Dimensions: 297‎ x 234 x 77 mm (Width x Depth x Height)
Weight: 2.4kg
Noise: Normal: 37 dB (A) - Economy: 29 dB (A)

tl;dr it's a basic projector, 4:3 not widescreen, low resolution, weight over 2kg so 'mobile' is an odd term for it.

You might be better off buying one of those LED based projectors from china.

I bought a 1TB external drive recently and never saw a good brand one under £45 so this looked like a good deal. It's USB3 as well so good data transfer speed.

My sons running out of space on his xbox one s 500GB. Is this/something like this what I need to get for him? help please. much appreciated :-)

Yes - as long as the drive is USB 3.0 it will work with Xbox One! I'd suggest you go for the biggest drive you can afford - I went for the 2TB Seagate Portable from Argos for £62.99.

Picked up 2 of these today. Bargain. Well considering the price they are online. These cases tend to be a lot more than i'd expect to pay for such a mass produced item.
Staples does have a lot of good deals instore, ALWAYS best to go in one cos they don't seem to update their website as much!

Very essential? No, that honour is reserved for laundry liquids and wall chargers.
I am very excited for the future though as you have branched out into new territory!

Staples – From a Single Store in the US to More than 100 Stores in the UK

The first Staples store was opened in Brighton, Massachusetts in the United States in 1986. The store was set up by former business rivals Thomas G. Stemberg and Leo Kahn. Stemberg had the idea for the business after he was unable to find a printer ribbon because his local office supplies store was closed for Independence Day.

Staples’ first international store was opened in Ontario, Canada in 1991. The following year, the first UK Staples store was opened in Swansea, Wales.

In 1998, Staples launched its first online store at www.staples.com. By 2001, Staples had launched e-commerce stores in all of the other countries it operated in, including the UK. Today, Staples has over 100 stores in the UK and more than 2,000 stores worldwide. Along with its physical stores, it also has a popular online shop where personal and business customers can order thousands of different office products.
