Thanks for the post Babbler. This is the only trek series I've never even watched an episode of. I really will have to slap it on the rental list :)

I think i tried watching 1 episode once emma, it wasn't good! - didn't try again! - kept thinking the main guy was going to 'Leap' at the end of the episode!

I agree about the quantum leap thinking :) - Still love this though.

Same for Battlestar season 3 though - keep expecting to see Sam now that "Al" is in it! ;)

What a shame. This is definitely the worst one by quite some distance in my opinion. They only made 4 series before they axed it. The next generation, Deep space nine and Voyager were all 7 series each. I would reccommend one of those.

And i'd completely disagree and say get these theyre fabulous! Especially series 3 and 4 though watching all of them makes the whole thing make a lot more sense. Just finished watching them all last night. Great!

It contradicted cannon quite a lot in the early series, but it picked up around season 3. It was definitely on the ball in season 4, but it had already lost enough viewers and sealed it's own fate so it was too little too late.

I was just getting in to it when they axed it.....I have to agree that it was very dull early on but did pick up towards the end.....shame

I gave up with Enterprise during the first season, as much as I wanted more Star Trek I just couldn't bear to watch it. However, series three and four are a different kettle of fish entirelly, I'd highly recommend them. Series three is one long story arc following Enterprise as they try to track down the Xindi (not giving anything away here). It starts off quite slowly but eventually builds up steam with some terrific cliffhangers from episode to episode - I was originally watching it on C4 so it was a week to wait between each episode.

Season 4 attempts to repair a lot of the damage Enterprise did and link it back to Star Trek (the first two series didn't even have Star Trek in the name), including the original series - ever wondered what happened to the Constitution-class Defiant? It mainly consists of two and three parters which kept me hooked throughout.

It's just a shame it was cancelled just as it was getting good, it was a similar story for the rest of the Trek series - towards the end of season 3 Voyager started to pick up with episodes like Distant Origin after some truly awful episodes and many uninspiring ones. Season 4 was probably Voyager's strongest and I'm not talking about Seven of Nine...Year of Hell is definitely one of my favourite Star Trek episodes. Similarly Deep Space Nine struggled with the spacestation concept, they couldn't do anything exciting with the runabouts which were slow and poorly armed plus the stories happening on the space station weren't that great either. With season 3 they had a convincing new menace and the Defiant gave them a set of teeth they could bare. It continued to some super buildups with long story arcs rather than the episodic TV other Star Trek series suffered from.

Season 4 is the only really great season as they brought in a new writer - Manny Coto - which turned everything around and made it watchable. I would say pick up Season 4 if you were interested BUT you really have to watch the other seasons to know the characters stories to care about what happens in Season 4.
