Very nice looking map of the night sky with info about constellations. Well worth 10p. It requires purchases for all features and does rather over-push the upgrade constellations reminder. Still, nice app.

Great! Thanks op. I am installing now. I will be able to educate myself in an area that I know nothing about but an interested in.
Happy days.

How is this any better than (Google) Skymap which has always been free?

Sky map:

yeah, some low res bitmaps.

Yea, the apps had 4 years of development since that video.. It actually is quite slick. I downloaded it when I was stood waiting outside a few weeks ago and was very impressed by it, especially as a free option.

Yeah this video below is six months old and the bitmaps seem a bit clearer, hasn't got most of the other features of Sky Walk 2 though nor augmented reality, foreign lingo but recent:

I found "Sky View" app too, which has more features but not as much as Sky Walk 2 nor augmented reality AFAIK, however it is free:

recent guide:

Don't know if it really is by Nasa or by dev:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.t11.skyviewfree&hl=en_GB

This is the free Skeye bednim mentioned:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lavadip.skeye&hl=en_GB

With free ones by these little app maker devs: they might inject ads or pestering notices or limit functions and introduce paid versions in future though as many often do after a few years. Google's apps do not suffer from these pesky monetization tactics in time. Sky Walk 2 interface is by far the best even without augmented layer and because with overall features beats them all too.

Thank you for saving me 10p :D

Bought this for my 5x a few months back, but for some reason this and sky map are way off, by nearly 90 degrees despite many callibration attempts. Gyro is fine as VR is spot on.

Can you gift this? My mum would love it but she'd never work out how to pay for it on the store

Many apps, but not all, are eligible for family library which means if bought by one person, immediate family members can also use it.
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7007852?visit_id=0-636110522977301174-3099947602&p=family_library_eligibility&rd=1#eligibility

This app also says at bottom it is eligible for family library, go to bottom at ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitotechnology.StarWalk2&hl=en_GB

So if one buys it, family members can install it too, as well as most other apps:

Can also pay by paypal in Play Store:

be cautious. This is the app when I was using at night in Prince Alfred Park in Sydney Australia on my iPhone 4s when I was then almost beaten to death and my partner's iPhone 4s was robbed. And I am not joking!

So what does the 10p get you above the free version?

To add satellites, hi-res constellations etc is a further £2.29.

I use Skymap and after trying all sorts of other ones I always prefer the simplicity of that one. These just have slightly more eye candy.
