These things rock ! At £24.99 thats hardly any more than the cheap plastic ones sold by Hasbro. And these really do feel like a 'real' saber.

I have four different Force FX sabers, (as I am a very very sad man) and started with the Vader model.

Given the fact that these are going out of production at the end of 2007, (due to Master Replicas ending their licencing deal with Lucasfilm), this is one very hot deal. In my view, these will really hold their value as time goes by. That said, they're a great christmas present for the kids (and for the adults who like to collect stuff and generally never grow up!)

Voted Hot !

:w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

NB - If you plan 'duelling' with these - be careful - they can take a bit of stick, but if you really swing at things hard they'll break (and that would be a great shame)

You're not kidding, I broke mine (snapped the ring pull bit on the hilt) fighting with a 10 year old whom I was babysitting.

I just bought this for £49.99 last night *SOB*It's showing as 'posted'. How are Play for refunds on returns?
#12
I didn't receive an item from Play, and had no trouble getting a refund. Never returned an item but I'm sure it would be ok.

Why don't you phone them and say you have seen it cheaper now, and ask for a price reduction? They might just go for it, instead of dealing with another order and a return?
#13
Phone and complain, they should give you the 25 quid back immediately.

What's the difference between these and the cheaper ones, brighter? Or are they completely different and much better?
#15
What are these made from please, pleastic I assume, not glass?

There's no comparison! :)

Even my dad who is in his 60's and has absolutely no interest in Star Wars (or anything else that could fall under the category of 'popular culture') couldn't help gasping in amazement when he turned one I had on for the first time. They are quite weighty with metal handles and realistic sounds - they will bring out the geek in anyone!!!

i really wish i could say i'd ordered this for a young nephew or something, but i haven't, i've ordered it for myself and when no one else is around i'll be running round the house with it
#24
I've ordered one too! Wish I could have gone for the Yoda one but for £24.99, Vader will have to do. Thanks OP, errr, I mean, the dark side I sense in you.

I've just ordered for a 5 year old, its not glass or anything thats likely to injure or do him a mischief is it ?

Ring/email them and explain the situation. They are usually reasonable and would refund the difference as you have the right to return the item.
#27
Excellent find mate, I've ordered one, but I can't decide whether to keep it or give it to my son. I may have to order another.

Well I did ring them and they said that they couldn't do anything, which I was a bit miffed about. :-(

They also seemed to think it was a price error, but I pointed out that the website has a special advert displaying about the new price reductuion. Anyway, looks like the only way I will get a refund is to apply to return the item unopened and pay for the return post. Darn it. It doesn't pay to get in too quick does it? I thought £50 was reasonable for these Sabers. You cannot get them cheaper than £50 ANYWHERE !! So £25 is an absolute steal !!!! Great reviews all over the place. Only some minor complaints about the colour not being as red as they thought but noone else has any complaints. My g/f has now bought one for £25 and I'll just have to hope I can get a full refund on mine when I return it.

They should be Ok as long as they don't go nuts! The one I bought is for my son who will be 5 in January. The handle is metal and plastic and the blade is hard transparent plastic.

They're definatley not toys 'per se' but having said that any 5 year old I know can usually manage to come damn close to decapitating anyone within a 10 foot radius with a rubber sword so I'd imagine there's probably an even greater probability with one of these babies..!

Leave it in the box and keep it as an investment...

Play cover the return cost...

back in the mid eighties i had one of the hollow plastic ones that when you whizzed through the air made the cool sound. wish i kept it, worth a few quid now. couldnt resist this. my only concern is how it will arrive. hopefully play will put it in a box first.
#33
Just purchased two from play.com so i can duel with my mate, added a cheap 2gb micro SD card to take the price above £50 and then used the £5 off voucher! Nice deal Davio!
#34

Play sent my mum one by mistake a couple of years ago and it did come in it's own long thing box as well as the 'packaging' box if you get my meaning.
