Special Features

During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
Decisions made by players throughout the game will determine the path of the story, including multiple endings that will rock Star Wars continuity as they know it.
The Force Unleashed is LucasArts' first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's Presidio district.
The Force Unleashed debuts Digital Molecular Matter from Pixelux and euphoria behavioral simulation from NaturalMotion Ltd.

But yeah, good price anyway.

I think I will get the wii version, I thought that was the whole point with lightsabers - jumping around the room making "zwoooom zwoooom" noises, brandishing the wii remote?

Yeh wasn't to fussed either with the demo but hopefully this will save peep paying £39.99! Usual star wars problem with this too, game promises so much then in the end it's just a pile of mince. Video review here...........>http://www.gametrailers.com/player/39955.html

demo is rubbish
#11
With no multiplayer component I wouldn't be surprised if it finds its way back to the pre-owned section of Game/Gamestation and CEX stores soon after Xmas. I think I'll wait until then, the demo didn't impress me but it wasn't a terrible game, just not something I'd spend £40 on (or £30, in this case)

When its available for under a tenner I may bite, until then I'll have to make do with Gears 2, Fable 2, Banjo, Dead Space, Race Pro, Lego Batman, Saint's Row 2 and no doubt a few arcade titles to keep me company over the Q4 period.

My wallet am cry... :(
#12
is this for ps3 as well?
#13
is there any reports on ps3 version being this cehap or do the higher class of gamers have to pay more :->
#14
Just played the demo on 360 - not a huge multiplayer fan anyway (although did enjoy GOW multiplayer) - and it's pretty good I have to say.

Still think I'll get the wii version though.

Couldnt agree more, I have a PS3 and as a SW fan since the 80's I couldn't wait to get my hands on the demo last week, however, something didnt seem right with it. The reviews will tell you why, its a snoozefest! And the lack of online multiplayer will mean its bargain bin bound right after xmas!! ...and hence the cheap ASDA price I guess.

PS: Voted HOT as its a great price for a brand new game! well done OP!
#16
Saw this in the paper, and I am interested... Clock it in under a week and sell it maybe? Dunno. Good price though @ £30
#17
If u do get PC World to price match... then I'm guessing they are selling it @ £39.99... meaning they will give u an additional 10% off of the difference (£1) making it £29... handy if you haven't got an Asda near you I suppose, but won't make me rush over there instead of Asda.
#18
Can confirm Wii version is complete pap. Pal version been available for download from Bittorrent for a week now. Very poor graphically, cut scenes are stunningly bad. Game has too many controls that kill things that you end up just repeating one.
During the first part with Darth you can literally just walk through thrusting the nunchuck forward repeatedly watching Wookies fly off into the distance doing the splits. Feels like the game has been knocked up quickly.

Wouldn't recommend hanging around outside ASDA at anytime let alone midnight and let alone for this bantha poodoo.
#19
am playing this on 360 an after feeling a bit "meh" about the demo, i am actually very impressed. It's not a AAA title but the graphics are fantastic, it's awesome fun using all the different force powers and the tech is very impressive. The story is great as well and better IMO than anything in the "new" film trilogy.

I'd say if you're indifferent to star wars it's worth getting for the story, maybe at a reduced price though or a rental. If you're a fan of star wars i'd say it's a definite purchase for the narrative alone.
#20
I got mine today - wii version arrived in the post from Game! £25. Hope its not as bad as stated as Im looking forward to playing it tonight/tomorrow after work!
#21
Been a lot of posts here complaining about the poor quality of the demo. Just thought I'd chime in and let you know that many reviews have panned the game for being nowhere near as good as the demo.

Folks, if that's true, then put your pennies back in your pockets.
#22
Can't speak for the Wii version as it was done by a different developer but i think generally speaking theres a massive trend at the moment for people to rip on games based purely on the reviews it's gotten. The game han't had BAD reviews, its average score is 71/72 on metacritic and gamerankings respectively and plenty of respected reviewers have given it 8's.

Peoplpe should play through something first and form their own opinion for something like this with those kind of ratings.

If something is getting 4/5 out of ten then thats a different matter altogether!

It's not a AAA title

Yes, it is. I think you probably don't know what a 'triple A title' actually is.

Many major reviewers despise having to put a score on things, and personally I tend to agree with this. A good review will give you a feel for whether or not you are likely to enjoy a game, based on the ability of the reviewer to communicate the richness of the experience.

You may also find that particular reviewers are more useful to you than others, because they are able to describe things in a way that makes sense to you, or because the things that are important to them are the things that are important to you.

So whilst the ratings system is not a fair way to judge things, a good review remains a good review, and can be very useful in deciding whether or not to purchase a game.

The caveat, of course, is that gamerankings is an incredibly handy way of telling at a glance if a game is unequivocably poop.

Most of my very favourite games do not average a score of 90 or above on metasites like gamerankings, (although they are usually 80 or above). For me a game is about atmosphere, and feel - and I can forgive a lot of other things, if this is maintained. STALKER was superb, precisely because no other game had ever done atmosphere like it.

hot deal demo was awesome looks a mint game reviews are useless they always give plenty of good games bad reviews i tend to ignore them these days because there usless and give rubbish reasons for low scores at 30 quid this is a real bargain

Enjoyed the demo - Love Star Wars - an average metacritic of 70 something - easy decision to buy.
#26
Not bad.

"Yes, it is. I think you probably don't know what a 'triple A title' actually is."

I do, i simply meant it is not a AAA title in terms of quality (although it is good imo). In terms of the stature of the title it is AAA of course, which i think is what you are referring to, but i usually used "AAA" to refer to a games quality, not the level of hype it has received.

I kept getting my ass unleashed by the scout walker how do you kill it ?

If you love Star Wars as much as I do there is no way in hell you can think this sucks! C'mon guys what is wrong with you! The graphics are absolutely stunning and to be able to immerse yourself in a world rich with atmosphere and interactive characters is a treat for any Star Wars fanatic alone, surely?

Every game that has ever been released from Star Wars gives you a choice or pushes you towards the light side. For once you can trully be dark and the game completely encourages that without no bad feelings. You can harness the full, dark intense power and use it in ways never seen before.

I am so impressed with the dynamics and realism. I can leave marks on everything, see my reflection in metal, bend things and totally destroy the world. Games with this much detail and hard work come along rarely these days.

As for one move actions.. you can harness the force, and create combo moves.

I'm not saying the game is perfect but I think with this release the game is as good as you choose to play it.

You kill of the stormtroopers then hurl stuff at it - when it gets weak and you get close a minigame appears - hit the buttons at the right time and you will slice it in half.:-D

AAA title is not a measure of quality. When you say "it is not a AAA title in terms of quality" it doesn't actually mean anything.

It's like saying "It's not a AAA title in terms of miles per hour". I mean.. what?

The fact that you don't know what I'm talking about when I call a game AAA shows that you don't know what it means.

That's okay. The definition is very ill defined. It's a game industry term. The best definition I ever heard was "AAA game means games that have almost unlimited budgets and are media events." But it is never used as a measure of quality.

Is this asda`s responce to morrisons selling cheap games last week? Could Tesco follow next week?

I only ever judge demos as a basic idea of the game not what you are going to get in the final polished version.
Look at Forza 2 the demo track was pretty average but the full game was fantastic and has set the marker to be beaten on the next gen driving sims even a year and a half later..

This is a good price voted Hot..

The force unleashed demo is exactly how the final game is. Apart from you don't have all those powers for the level at the time, also the level doesn’t end with the AT-ST boss.

I have both the 360 and Wii versions, I got today from work, both are average, while I prefer the 360 version.

Now if they had done a pc version, it would have had multiplayer to start with.
But they (Lucasarts) in their infinite wisdom decided not to so we will never know.
May buy a console if I want this title.
Which is the best version out there/to be released?
banned#35
Far better games coming up, better off saving the money for a month. and plumping for one of these October releases: Saints Row 2, Dead Space, Far Cry 2, or Fallout 3,

Played the demo, very very poor, it's gonna be a seriously repetitive game. If you really want it, wait a couple of weeks and the price will half, poor games always do.
Nice price though

I'd like to say 2 things here, I have played through a couple of bosses on this game now and while it's not totally cutting edge in terms of game play it's a great looking game with great animation and a lot of fun to play and look at, along the lines of Ninja Gaiden 2. If you like star wars definitely get this deal, if not wait a wee while and get it a bit later.
..... and now to the second thing. wild_quinine, people like you get right up my nose, self satisfied, smug, (think) they know it all twits who get kicks out of condescending all over anyone who mentions anything about what you consider to be 'your' topic. Here are a couple of discussions on the term 'AAA' that I got from the same way that the majority of us all do (including you, probably) by googling it.

The best way I saw it put was
"Do not look for a universally-agreed-upon definition of what AAA means. It's a waste of time."
so stick that in your pipe AND shove it up your bahookie, oh and I know that you most likely think you sound exactly like zero punctuation... but you don't.

Hope your Asda's are more compotent than my local (York Rd - Leeds). Went in tonight only to be messed around for 30 minutes and finally had the guy pretend to not have it in stock in his little cupboard. Oh well, i'm sure he'll get a word in his ear when i speak to and write to his manager at some point. Then hopefully he wont **** people around again.

Hope some of you did manage to get this deal though :)
