Another one I noticed on my travels.

Before anyone comments, I personally wouldn't dream of paying five grand for some signed Star Wars books, but hey it may help out the odd person (!) and will probably attract some rather humorous comments into the bargain.

Also, in light of the price, be sure to get your 5% RAC discount code - which will save you a shade under £250 (so not to be sniffed at)

The ultimate limited edition, Star Wars: Frames brings together master filmmaker George Lucas' personal shot-by-shot selections from all six legendary Star Wars films. Limited to only 1,138 copies and showcased in a sumptuous deco-inspired wooden box, Star Wars: Frames contains six books, each corresponding to one of the movies in the Star Wars saga: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

All six books reside in the beautiful wood-inlaid box, which is adorned with two exclusive high-relief sculptures of Darth Vader and Yoda. Each limited edition is numbered and contains a special portfolio with a bookplate signed by George Lucas. For collectors and Star Wars aficionados, this history-making extremely exclusive package will live on as a grand project devoted to the art and craftsmanship of a cinematic phenomenon.

The Star Wars: Frames Book features:

- A numbered bookplate signed by writer-director George Lucas
- A custom limited-edition arts & crafts maple-wood case, flanked by two uniquely sculpted high-reliefs of Yoda and Darth Vader.
- Over 1,400 frames (more than 230 frames from each Star Wars film) in six leather-bound volumes (each 22" x 11"), hand-selected and reviewed by George Lucas
- Exceptional large-format film frames magnificently reproduced in a breath-taking original widescreen aspect ratio, as never before in the history of Lucasfilm publishing

Even more laughable is the fact that this collection of books will reportedly weigh a staggering OVER 200 POUNDS in weight!

#5
any1 know if there is a limit per customer?
#6
JayBird,

Whoops - forgot the Quidco - which is a mega £200 off.

So, original price = £5599 - £600 (sale discount) - £250 (RAC) - £200 (Quidco) = £4549

At £4549, this is an absolute 'must have' - Go on, reach for your plastic ............

Even more laughable is the fact that this collection of books will reportedly weigh a staggering OVER 200 POUNDS in weight Star Wars Frames Review

"Imagine a high-quality coffee table book full of images picked by Papa George himself…well, that’s what you’re gonna get with Star Wars Frames, a limited edition six-volume set coming in January 2009. No word yet on how much it will cost but it is limited to 1,138 editions and it comes with an embossed case. Rebelscum.com posted that the set will weigh over 200 pounds! This doesn’t sound like it will be cheap at all."
#13

Indeed, but as the thing weights OVER 200 POUNDS, it's probably £100 for the book and £4899 for dedicated delivery!
#18
Is it the most expensive thing on Play.com...?

There's gotta be heat for anyone who can find something that costs more... or have they started selling cars recently?
#19
Was looking at this the other day... I think someone pointed it out cheaper at forbidden planet.

Going to look into it more... Big Star Wars Fan me... so anything goes... money don't bother me no more.... so couldn't care less..... but would rather buy it for cheaper..... :-D

If i don't like it i will fleabay it otherwise... back to the loft it goes.........

This looks awesome, but not something I would spend £4999 on, or even £3499.

The limited run of 1138 is an interesting number, and not supprising given this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1138_(number)
#21
It's beyond my budget, but HOT! ;)
#22
The sad thing is that some people will actually buy this thinking it's an investment. You would be lucky to get £500 on ebay in 2 years time (IMO).

As in THX 1138, and the number that keeps cropping up in his films.

Interestingly 1,138 is also the number of people in the world who still think George Lucas is a good director.
#30

Just got my cancellation email :(
"We are sorry but this item is out of stock. Due to the extremely high number of orders in a short space of time it didn't give our system enough time to update. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."

THX 1138 is just the name of a film Directed by George Lucas.
I believe its the first film he directed (i'll stand to be corrected on that though)

all kidding aside, id love to own these - but it is a big ripoff.

if these were maybe £600 id consider it. but maybe one day they will be.

as for 200 pounds of weight plus packaging - id like to be able to buy it just to see the look on the postmans face when he has to carry something as heavy as me to the door lol.
