This is the cheapest i could find the original triolgy blurays online as a preorder. to get the cheapest price make sure you:

1. Use the HMV code: MOFFHMVO5 to get £5 off over a £30 spend

2. Use quidco/Topcashback for 1% (28p) cashback via a sale using a voucher.

Hope this helps someone :)

They pre-authorisde the card details, but money is only taken when the order ships, so if a better deal appears you can cancel and order the other!

HMV wont go bust, people without the internet will aslways need a place to buy overpriced entertainment!
#7
It's not the original films though -they've been lost to CGI additions, editing and years of tinkering.

Good price though if you are ignorant or have the memory of a goldfish.
#8
If you read the papers - HMV is going to go bust very soon!

They take money when they ship the goods, so you should be okay.

Gonna wait it out, this will be £17.95 on a zavvi mega Monday , you know its true.

hmm i am tempted although what difference is it to the full set which states has 9 bluray disks?

unless one of the 2 boxsets ( 1,2&3 booo) (4,5&6 yay) has 2 disks and the other just has 1?

as this works out at under £60 for the full set compaired to £63.

mind you for £3 i may not be too concerned.

and if you want the originals, get them on vhs and then digitally convert them to dvd.

sad that i am i still have the box set on vhs, and on dvd, however as my favourite films of all time ( the proper ones not the last 3 ghey ones) i will be getting them on bluray and watching them all over again in the proper order ( watch episode 4,5 then 6 and just keep the first 3 in their cases)

Or if you want to see the Star Wars Episodes 4,5 and 6 on Blu Ray, no matter what rendition of them they are.

Exactly. Does it really make a difference to viewing pleasure if they've just added a new droid in the background for example.

Real shame it does not have the original versions aswell...... george feckin lucas what did you do!!! Should have at least waited till cgi was up to scratch, no doubt we will get another cash in set in a years time with the proper films on.http://www.thescificast.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/china_problem.png

The high street stores are struggling, which is why they are shutting some down. This doesn't really impact their online division.

Since it's been hinted at for a while but just confirmed, the Star Wars movies are all being re-released in the cinemas in 3D.So no doubt there'll be yet another release on blu-ray or whatever in the not to distant future.

the full set has 3 bonus bluray discs full of extras. the seperate sets are bare boned blurays, 3 discs per set.

which is why i keep telling people not to bother with these sets, just get the full 9 discer if you are a true fan.

To some degree i dont mind the additions except for thr the greedo shooting first (it looked so stupid when han just sat there while greedo fired laser shots all around him) and the part when han walked around jabba the hutt that looked atrocious (i do recall seeing a documentary on itv years ago where it shown that scene with a fat guy and some sort of fur coat playing jabba)

heat added by the way although I personally will be getting the full set for all the extras.

These are not the discs you're looking for.

Two things which I will only believe by the time September roles around:

HMV are still in business
Lucas hasn't done some minor tinkering with the 6 movies for the blu ray releases

Went in the other day, they had the lost bluray set for 200quid, I picked it up for 85quid a few months back on Zavvi. They also had Lost seasons 5 or 6 for 80quid EACH. No wonder they are going bust.

FYI the original versions were released as DVD but Lucas will not release them on BR. The CG was added during the creation of the special editions for theatrical release in the 90s and it mostly very good; each subsequent home release has included tweaks and I think Greedo and Han now fire at the same time.

FYI they were not!
