Got this boxset when it was £140 from play like 8 months ago, brilliant series and well for £100 you cannot go wrong, seem as you would send that on 3 singular seasons of this.

If i could buy again i would

GREAT DEAL

I was watching the later series on my new SKY HD and I have to say that it looked amazing, so I'm waiting for all these to be released on Blu-Ray. I can see this price dropping even more, when you look at how B5 boxset dropped to such a low price I can play the waiting game.

Also I see that there is now a new directors cut of the feature length pilot, it is meant to be a lot better than the original version, not sure if it is included in this set.

Stargate SG-1 - Children of the Gods

I guessestimated it would take me a little over 10 days straight of watching (no sleep) this to finish the boxset with films , also if you include Atlantis it would add another couple of days.

I plan to take a holiday and do that, although last time i did ( i did have some minor sleep) i was started spouting Goa'uld, which fortunately i could understand no one else had a clue :whistling:

Here are some interesting facts about this set I have read from the Amazon.co.uk site:-

As promised I can now confirm how many discs there actually are. There are 61 discs in total. Yes indeedy, SIXTY ONE. Made up of: Season 1 = 5 discs, seasons 9 to 10 = 6 discs each, Ark of Truth = 1 disc, Continuum = 1 disc.

Note that they actually class it as 60 discs plus a special features 'bonus disc'.....which is actually inside the season 10 box. The other seasons (except seasons 1 & 2) all include the usual special features too, it's just that this 'bonus disc' is the only disc to be entirely made up of special features. I don't know if all the features on this bonus disc pertain to the 10th season alone, or if this is a general Stargate SG1 bonus disc exclusive to this set.... likely incorporating those extra special extras that came on the Region 1 set's 4 bonus discs (meaning it might contain those small few special features that are not already spread out across seasons 3-10 in this set). I suspect the latter is the case.

Seasons 1 and 2 have no special features at all, as I think they were originally on VHS only, so they have seemingly (and cheaply) ported over just the episodes themselves to DVD (from the film masters of course, so DVD quality all the way....though these two first seasons are a little grainy in comparison to seasons 3-10). I don't know if seasons 1 & 2 having no extras has always been the case with the individual seasons 1 and 2 on region 2 DVD....but I DO note that in region 1 territories they at least come with trailers and a smattering of token featurettes - quite why we never got these is beyond me. However, the latter seasons MORE than make up for the omission with an absolute WEALTH of bonus features, including what appears to be commentaries on ALL episodes on the majority of the later season sets...which is simply amazing in the world of episodic TV DVD box sets (I own many TV box sets, most have commentaries on just a small selection of episodes). Perhaps they felt guilty about short changing us on special features with the first two seasons so they really went to town on the later sets. Sure seems like it.

I note that the special features include the excellent Sci-Fi channel documentaries/featurettes....which I remember being on the four bonus discs on the Region 1 special edition release of seasons 1-10. These should be fantastic viewing for fans. I'm particularly looking forward to re-watching the 100 and 200 episode milestones, which both have featurettes devoted to them.

Anyway, enough prattling by me, all you need to know is that Amazon's "56 discs" is wrong.....and so is HMV's "63 discs". The number is 61....as counted by my own hands. So that should put this debate to bed.

And.

The original movie and the TV shows are very much two separate entities. I can say with almost absolute certainty that they will never be packaged together. The next box set should come out some time after the third SG1 movie that follows Ark of Truth & Continuum. Although be warned, it will be a lot more expensive if they follow a similar pricing strategy to what they have been doing. A small while ago, you could get all ten seasons for £85 here....then they did a set that also had Ark of Truth in it, so they put the price up significantly (£102). Then they released this one that also comes with Continuum.....and the price went up again. If you could still get the seasons 1-10 set for £85, it is just £13 for both Ark of Truth and Continuum....that's less that £100. This is currently £140. So god only knows what the next one will cost.

People keep putting off buying these sets because it won't be complete if they release new SG1 movies......which is crazy. You can always buy any future movies separately. Sometimes you just need to stop and enjoy the roses.

Great series! Very hot.
That's 50p an episode where some episodes cost a million to make!

Where would i put the new movies that they end up releasing?

Big shame that they cut the franchise and bought out cheap revamps.....

Sitting is usually the preferred method to watch TV by most people and I've seen every episode at least 3 times each, the films once. I usually re-watch old series when there's nothing good on TV, so yeah people would.

Probably seen each episode 3 - 5 times as it's always on SKY, the same can be said for all the TREK shows and even more for the Family Guy series.

Indeed....and Buffy and Angel, though more Buffy than Angel since the last couple of series were weak for Angel.
