£140 at and HMV.

This Stargate SG.1 boxset is a complete collection of the science-fiction based television show - featuring all episodes from series 1 through to series 10!

The Stargate is an intergalactic gateway, developed by an ancient civilization, that links other planets from other solar systems to ours. The U.S. Air Force assembles a Stargate team headed by Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson of "MacGyver") for interstellar peace-keeping missions. Boasting incredible special effects sequences, rapid-fire pacing and awesome scenes of alien warfare, Stargate SG-1 is your gateway to pulse-pounding, sci-fi action.

Stargate - Continuum: Following SG-1 and The Ark of Truth, Stargate: Continuum is the latest chapter in this incredible series. The venerable Richard Dean Anderson returns to the fold, whilst the late Don S. Davis makes his final appearance as General George Hammond. Spectacular sci-fi at its best!

While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba'al, the last of the Goa'uld System Lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, hundreds of Goa'uld motherships arrive in orbit, led by Ba'al, his queen Qetesh (Vala), and his first prime, Teal'c. The remaining SG-1 members must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the Goa'uld.

Stargate - The Ark Of Truth: In search of an Ancient artifact they hope can defeat the oppressive Ori, the team learns that the Ori are set to launch a final assault on Earth and a double-crossing I.O. operative is aboard the Odyssey (This storyline, wraps up the primary storyline of season 9 and 10 of SG1).

Oh so want but cant buy as I have to do my car insurance in a week :(
hmm very decent price might have to give in an buy it? are there blu rays of these comming out soon though?
Cheers for the deal, now find me a cheap Stargate Atlantis1-5 as well pls
Good deal. Close to the lowest price I've ssen this going for (£85 last year). Pity the SFLIX code can't be used with this offer.
Still wanting and waiting for Blu-ray..even if the earlier series do look sh*t.
There won't be blurays of Seasons 1-7. 8-10, probably, they've already been shown in HD on Sky One and other networks throughout the world, but not seasons 1-7. They never could be in HD, as they were filmed on a film format below that of HD capable resolutions. So wait all you want for the blurays, 140odd episodes will be DVD and DVD only.
Well would like a pack with the movies on Blu-ray then..Petty the qaulity ain't good enough for HD cause this is a show that would have looked really good in hi-def...especially Amanda Tapping. :-D
does this box set contain Children of the Gods and the original film with Kurt Russel ?
Is the new movie still planned for this year or has it been cancelled?

Yes, and no.
Yes, and no.

Still waiting for this to come down to £50ish or for me to win the National Lottery. Suspect neither is going to happen any time soon.
Massive find!!
Such a brilliant and fun series, especially when compared to the current stargate Universe. Maybe the first two seasons are a bit creaky, but after that there are some great episodes and I always like the mix of humour and intelligent acting. Well worth buying if you havent seen them.
Couldn't resist any longer. Just ordered. Used PlayFunds, so it won't hurt my wallet. Can't really see this set ever dropping to the £50 mark, so what the hell.
as they were filmed on a film format below that of HD capable resolutions.

Super 8?

Modern 16mm film stock exceeds SD resolution and would certainly work as a HD release.
Also coming up in November is 'Scrubs: The Complete Eighth Season', which is shot on Super 16, albeit on a slower, more finely-grained film stock. 'Scrubs' cinematographer John Inwood recalled that initially “some people were claiming that the picture quality that you render on film in Super 16 format wasn't sufficient to air in HD format,” but, he adds, “Larry Fields and I tested the show in HD and found it not only held up, but it looked terrific.”

I very much doubt that Stargate was shot on Super 16 mm stock.

The problems with any potential Blu-ray release of the early series of Stargate are:

That the series was shot on 35 mm film but transferred to SD video prior to editing. This is a problem that afflicts Star Trek: The Next Generation. As the only assembled copy of an episode exists on SD video, you would need to go back to the original unedited pieces of film (if available), edit them together, add the soundtrack, plus HD versions of the effects etc.

The second problem relates to any CGI special effects that may be in these episodes. These would most likely have been rendered at SD resolutions (for the sake of time if nothing else). This is a problem that also afflicts the Director's Cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, will all the new effects being rendered in SD resolution. That's why this version of the film isn't available on Blu-ray.
So is it coming out on Blu-ray or not Mish_Mash. :whistling: :p

Cheers for the info m8y.
excellent price....shame i'm skint :( have some heat and rep
I bought a similar package at over 100 quid and it was still brilliant value for money. This is a great buy if you can stretch to it.
I have a set that I am trying to sell for my Dad, was going to put it on ebay, but would anyone like to PM me with a reasonable offer?

I very much doubt that Stargate was shot on Super 16 mm stock.

The first three seasons of Stargate SG-1 were filmed on 16 mm film, notwithstanding scenes involving visual effects that had always been shot on 35 mm film for various technical reasons. After a test run with the season 3 finale, "Nemesis", Stargate SG-1 switched to 35 mm film for all purposes at the beginning of season 4. This is from the Season 4 commentary from these very DVDs.

I wonder how long it will stay at that price, now that Play's price is back up to £140? Might be the last chance for anyone who didn't order yesterday.
Altered to Amazon now.
