Cannondale CAADX Tiagra 2016 - Cyclocross/Commuter £599.99 @ Start Fitness

2
With the launch of the 2017 CAADX models the 2016 variants seem to be dropping in price. This one is around £650-750 elsewhere (in stock) so for £599.99 this seems a good deal. Original RRP is around

Just XL available for this.

Need a full sus bike to add to my collection. Wish they had my size but ideally would need to sit on before spending this much cash.
This is the best deal for this bike by at least £700 so I have voted hot.

Seemed a simple hot versus cold decision to be honest or am I missing something?

The right (sale) price now for GX , SLX , and Turbine/Aefect finishing kit. Santa Cruz are very good bikes but seem to suffer particularly badly from the $ to £ conversion after being imported. I would happily pay 2x the (original) price for an XTR Di / Fox electronic shock equipped model if I hadn't just built a 21lb carbon fat bike. You can never have too many bikes though (N+1) hmmmn now there's a thought ;)

You'd have to change your name to santa-cruzer then

Yeah, I'mh fat, yeah I wear lycra when I cycle, how many f's do I give.... oh, that's right zero.

Despite being about 86kg and 177cm tall I'm about average for BMI in the UK which is quite shocking but I'm probably fitter than something like 80%-90% of the population and I also spend lots of time doing martial arts, you probably wouldn't want to make comments about lycra to my face. :p
BMI is such a pile of crap, I'm borderline obese according to the chart at 85Kg and 183cm tall but my basal metabolic rate is that of your average 32 year old! If your clothes fit well, you can squeeze the life out of females, you recover quickly from a high heart rate and enjoy your din dins that's all that matters in my book :)
Was in Newcastle for the great north run but was too sore to make it back to start cycle store. May have to risk the sizes on website

hmmmm...do grown men not play football ??

do fat blokes not ride bikes ???
Nah, ive only ever seen women play soccer...

Lycra chafes less than normal shorts & undies, so yes they look horrible, but they let you do 50+ mile rides and still walk around normally the next day. So it's not about looking 'pro'.

I'm not bashing on cycling. I don't have any interest in it I'm curious to why people support teams. You're comment seems to make out that I only like football which is far from the truth.

its a team sport, like any other. Why do people support a rugby team, or a chess team? because there is some affiliation, either with a sponsor, a rider or a country. pretty simple really.
ianispne

Just trying to make the point that it's easier to get to a moderate level of cycling than it is to get to a moderate level of football. It might be rubbish in your opinion but generally people prefer to watch it to other sports like cycling. I still don't understand how you can rally behind a cycling team though.

You're trying to compare two things that are incomparable by drawing upon something that has nothing to do with your argument (popularity of the respective sports).

Each sport requires completely different athletic attributes. But rest assured the elite level cyclists have endurance levels that would make your top level footballers weep.

So if a L bibshorts from Aldi fits me OK will the same size from AliExpress or Monton be OK or should I go XL ??
Your best bet is to order based on their sizing chart. The sizes are much smaller than UK sizes, for example with UK kit I am a large. For Monton I order an XL jersey (42" chest) and XXL bib shorts (36" waist). These are a perfect fit for me. Of course they are 'knock-off" copies, but excellent quality and the pads are the most comfortable in any shorts that I own. I can afford to purchase a couple of kits a season at less than £20 each delivered for bib shorts and a jersey. It's not doing the original kit manufacturers out of a sale, as there is no way I would ever pay £150+ for a genuine set. The sponsors are also getting free advertising!
As for not 'getting' why anyone would want to wear team kit - why do grossly obese football supporters wear replica shirts? At least we are using the clothing for what it was designed for and cycling an average of 250 miles per week in the summer certainly keeps me fitter than the average football supporter.

People support cycling teams?
this surprised me too, it seems bizarre
Why? There are cycling teams, with star riders, what's so difficult to understand? The sport relied upon team work and sacrifice, I understand if people brought up on soccer and similar sports wouldn't understand. If your enquiry is genuine, try watching some of the coverage on eurosport / itv4. These guys work all day for each other, six hours racing a day, sometimes for three weeks on end, for a season lasting from January to October... those primadonnas you see on sky sports whinge if they have to run around on grass for 90 minutes more than once a week to justify their horribly obscene and unjustified wages, whilst cyclists ride for a fraction of the pay and divide their winnings amongst the team...

I support it because I know what these guys go through and the ethics they represent...

So really you just support all the teams because of their hardwork? I don't know how you can compare football with cycling though. Cycling is pretty much just hardwork whereas football is so much more of a skill.
I agree, football is full of skill and teamwork, cycling is full of skill (staying upright in all weathers) and teamwork, and soccer is just plain rubbish...

Just trying to make the point that it's easier to get to a moderate level of cycling than it is to get to a moderate level of football. It might be rubbish in your opinion but generally people prefer to watch it to other sports like cycling. I still don't understand how you can rally behind a cycling team though.
Yes, I agree, one can get to about 92% capability in cycling sure enough, its the final few % that is the real dedication and effort. Just to clarify, I live in the south west, where football uses an oval ball and is the predominant sport, and soccer is the round ball game and hardly registers. That is by the by. As I said, I generally support campagnolo supplied teams, because I prefer campag components to shimano or sram.

Cycling teams can be set up in several ways, with a squad of about 30 riders. early season one day classics normally require strong, robust riders, then the grand tours come round and a team sets itself up for its sprinter or general classification rider and rides accordingly. Belgian cobbled classics races in spring are suited to different riders to the Italian classics. I like Tony martin and Cavendish, for example, who both ride for OPQS, thus I support them....

One can support anything one wishes if there is a competitive element. Ive also met and support Martin 'Wolfie' Adams in the darts and valentino rossi for whatever teams he rides in motogp. So, if you like the team, buy the kit and look like your stars - any different to me wearing my Leicester tigers top when I go to Kingsholm ,or the soccer faithful wearing replica tops, I say no...

I'm a ST holder at a BPL club and a bike racer and support OPQS cycling team. Believe it or not, it's quite normal to be passionate about more than one sport.

As for ethics, cycling pis*es all over football as unlike money obsessed football cycling is doing its damnest to drive out every drugs cheat and, if you think it's not skillful, then you've clearly never tried racing in a bunch or a fast technical downhill.

Cycling is also the only sport where you can take on the same arenas as the professionals. I'll never get to play at Wembley or OT and the like but I can ride the same roads as The Tour of Britain or TdF etc. Last week I rode Star Bank, Gun Hill and The Cat & Fiddle, all ridden by the pros in recent years and was able to compare my performance with theirs.

As for pure sporting prowess, well a precious princess gets a kick he rolls around and sticks his bottom lip out. Rider comes down at 30mph in lycra on tarmac, as long as no bones are sticking out, they are back on the bike.

I'm not bashing on cycling. I don't have any interest in it I'm curious to why people support teams. You're comment seems to make out that I only like football which is far from the truth.
