The Chateau Impney is a brilliant example of classic French Chateau style architecture with all that it implies in terms of elegance and romance.

It was built in 1875 by John Corbett, the Salt King, as a present to his wife,
a beautiful French governess. Corbett fell in love with her during a visit to Paris and as both had been enchanted by Versailles and the French Chateaux in the Loire Valley they decided to build their own palace in England.

It's possible to get an Executive room for £64.95 including breakfast so even with 2 people eating in the restaurant (3 course) the whole deal is still less than £100.

Looking on Trip Advisor, the reviews are generally very good, even though the decor is somewhat dated. I know people who have been and are very impressed.

Seems a good deal and given the choice I think I would prefer this to a Premier Lodge.

From the home page - read into it what you want but stick on a credit rather than a debit card.

Christoper Kim Rayment and Toby Underwood of BDO LLP, 125 Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 3SD were appointed Joint Administrative Receivers of the Impney Group Limited (trading as The Chateau Impney and The Raven Hotel) and its subsidiaries on 23 November 2009. The Joint Administrative Receivers are agents of the Company and act without personal liability.

I have stoped here the one night and it wasnt my cup of tea (the service was poor to say the least)
If you like going back 70 years this is the place for you...................

The place is in administration, they are looking for a buyer.
There won't be any problems such as the place suddenly closing and losing your money with administrators running it.

It is a risk as it is hard to tell what the administrator might do, or who it might be sold to. I agree with Mincer stick with your credit card if you choose to book here, but I certainly wouldnt be booking ahead more than 6 weeks.
