People who own this, how does it feel when play FPS over using a PS4/XB pad?

Why would you play FPS on a controller any way, do you hate yourself that much?

USB and wireless with included dongle. Not seen a mention of it being bluetooth, so not sure if it is with an included BT receiver or not.

Yes I already posted that #4 but this is a Game bundle with a case and not from store.steampowered.com. I am 28th in the queue on live chat. The link in the OP to Steam is not the same product as this has a case in the bundle

I assume this will come in the standard controller box + a box for the case. Don't see why it won't have the wireless dongle

My friend owns one, he said it's not great for FPS games due to the touchpads, and also not great for driving (though no worse than keyboard/mouse). It's more targeted at games like Civilization, Cities Skylines, Tropico, Planet Coaster and ARPGs like Grim Dawn and Diablo. I can imagine it would play nicely for MMORPGs too, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, etc.

Lol. The last comment from an older thread says they came separately so what I thought is correct. :)

Love this controller, highly customisable! Works with every game I try, playing the Witcher 3 in bed on my projector then exiting and loading up an RTS is pure heaven. My favorite part is that the right touch pad gives you full mouse control in desktop.
#25
There have been some great Steam deals recently with controller + game for around £35 - £40 but you did have to add on steam's insane carriage costs!
Personally prefer XB1 controller on pc, but that is more down to what I am use to and this is certainly infinitely more customizable

They are good but having had one I have asked Santa for an Xbox One S controller to game with. It's nice for a backup controller.

I'd really like to get one as I do like to play point and click adventures but think the more laid back nature of them makes them perfect couch gaming yet them requiring a mouse makes it an uncomfortable way to play, the steam controller seems like the perfect solution.

That said as I don't think it would be as good as a traditional controller for usual action adventure and racing games, I wouldn't spend a great deal on one, think £20 is my biting point making this deal somewhat lukewarm for me. Annoying that they can reduce the Steam link to £16 yet still want £28 for the controller, would think the link would be worth more if anything but I'm guessing they can't shift them or get loads of them back when people realise it isn't a system itself and needs a PC....

I'm heading out to the shops to do some last minute Christmas shopping and would maybe pick this up tomorrow.

It says that prices in store may vary, how true is this? Would the store budge on price if i showed them the webpage?

I think I might be one of a minority that don't like this controller. I bought this, and prefer the Xbox/Windows controller over it. I don't understand who its marketing for, because if you use mouse/keyboard for gaming you don't need it. Even if you use a controller, the touch movement thing for FPS can be difficult to use. I can see the appeal for people with disabilities or something, but for me it just doesn't feel right.

EDIT: Feel free to flame me for having an opinion. #HotUKOpinions.

I don't understand who its marketing for, because if you use mouse/keyboard for gaming you don't need it.

The absolute top use for this controller is to allow you to play games that don't have normal controller support on your TV *without* needing to use a keyboard and mouse. This is something that you can't really do with traditional controllers. Up until now the configuration options have been amazing compared to PS/XBox controllers, though they are starting to get supported by Steam in much the same way, so that's an advantage that is starting to erode. But up until now, nothing has been able to touch this for configurability.

Using a traditional controller (right analog stick) for an FPS feels horrible and difficult to use as well. Most things do until you get used to them. The same was true of PS/Xbox controllers. That said, you're perfectly allowed to dislike this (although it would mean more if you gave it a fair go). Some people like Dual Shock controllers, but I just hate them with every fibre of my being.

Even if it drops, the postage cost is extortionate from Steam - it will not be cheaper than this delivered ...

I've had this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Keyboard-Touchpad-Multi-media-Raspberry/dp/B00DUUF250/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1482424550&sr=1-7&keywords=wireless+keyboard since the dawn of time. I tried really hard to use the steam controller, but found I was still lacking a keyboard. I would need to literally put shortcuts for every single game onto my desktop (which is why I defaulted back to the device I just linked) and I just found the touchpad frustrating. In my opinion its horrible for gaming, and didn't have the patience to get used to it.

I know it DOES work, but if you have never used it I wouldn't recommend going daft and buying about 10. It never appealed to me, and everyone seemed to be fighting over the Wireless Windows controllers. I wish I didn't spend £20 on it.

EDIT: Voted hot for the find btw.

Absolutely the best controller for fps and third person shooters on the couch. Mouse trackpad for large movements and 180's and gyro for fine aiming(I find it best set to roll and not the default yaw). Doesn't beat a mouse and keyboard but it is far better than a dual stick controller. It will take same getting used to but it's hard to go back once it clicks.

One thing is to point out is that its very much a controller for geeks. It's massively configurable but most likely you will have to mess around with settings. Which is great if you like customising and getting everything the way you like it(nothing else comes close) but if you want a plug and play experience a normal controller is better. There is a decent guide here:
http://www.pcgamer.com/steam-controller-setup-guide/

The trackpad, tirggers and gyro are first rate. The rest of the buttons are average and the shoulder buttons aren't great but usable. Batteries last for ages and it also works plugged in via usb.

You most definetely could not play World of Warcraft with a controller X) just for starters it doesnt have enough buttons for most classes rotations

The majority of people would say Xbox controller is better for gaming. It has its niche uses for example, if you don't have a wireless mouse (and if you don't need a keyboard) you could use the controller. It also looks pretty to have the Steam Link, the complete Steam controller to go with.

I configured it until the cows came home, but it still didn't work for me as a gaming controller. It wouldn't work for WoW (but no controller would), and for fast games it would be very taxing on your fingers. Personally I prefer using a wireless mouse/keyboard with the wireless Windows (xbox 360) controllers that had been gathering dust.

my mate borrowed it to me so I could give it a try and I hated it, I would not get it even for 5 pounds, xbox one controller FTW.

Just bought it with the Steam Link since I'm spending more time on steam than the PS4/Xbox 1.
