Yes, it does, I got this exact same deal at christmas!

Enjoyed 191 hours of gameplay so far :)

Finally going to purchase it. Main reason being the latest patch removed the need for the rockstar social club and all that other annoying stuff.

Well, kinda, it's still there but it's not a seperate app anymore. Loads less annoying.

Good deal.

Just remembered that I haven't played this once yet since purchasing it in the Steam January deals for 4.99 :D

I own this already on the 360 and will probably never play it on my pc. So why am I so tempted?! Must resist....

Ahh, I wished I'd waited. I got mine from Direct2Drive. Steam is much better :)

I was in the same boat, but like the poster above, I gave in

Too many mods etc around to extend gameplay for it on PC, and the extra gamerscore for a fiver was also tempting.

Only problem I'm having is that the download speeds from steam seem to be pathetically slow at times, I'm guessing its due to so many people downloading their deals?

Edit: Nevermind, switched Steam to the Russian servers and now I'm at a constant 700kb/s :)
#12
Is this for download only or is it for the discs?

Direct2drive had the download version for £4 for the past few days - just checked and it's gone up

Edit: Just noticed everything is Digitally delivered, guess Direct2drive were cheaper, it was up for a few days, thought it was the norm price as i don't really play video games.

Glad I came across this on time! HOT HOT HOT - And purchased!
#14
ANNOYING, bought this on Games For Windows the other week for 1200 points (£10)
#15
does anyone know what time this deal will finish?
#16
it was 3.95 on direct2drive last week ;)
#17
Ends at 9pm. in less than 5 minutes.
#18
I still need to finish this on XBOX - gonna have to resist this, although it's tempting to buy this and sell my 360 copy - how much can you get for GTA 4 trade in now?
#19
So does that mean from this site and direct2drive etc, means you don't need a disc to play it? Just I need some games for my laptop to pass the time on trains etc and don't want to carry discs around.
#20
At the beginning of checkout it was £5 then at the end it was £19.99 :(

You ain't going to have much luck playing GTA 4 on the lappy whilst on a train :P.

Look for older single player games. Beyond good and evil was a fun platforming game that is available on Steam. There are plenty of indie games as well.

You can play Steam games offline (used to be a bit picky about it, but usually best whilst home to make sure Steam offline mode works before a long journey) without the need for any discs.

GTA4 on pc was an epic fail. You needed a super computer to run it, and the specs on the back of the box were a lie.

New patch makes all the difference. I can play in 1080p on my trusty 384MB graphics card without any issues now :-D
#25
Yeah it ran on my 8800GS fine.

Shame I missed this but I'm not sure I'd ever complete the game anyway.

Steam has a few benefits over Direct2Drive: 1. Faster download speeds (I can get 1200KB/s on steam but only 280KB/s on Direct2Drive). 2. It includes patches and 3. It automatically installs so is more convenient.

Steam is so much better. I love steam, I get 2500kb/s from it (maxes out my connection). Got 60GB in a few hours on saturday. :D

Also keeps it always upto date, it's much more common than D2D so is better supported.

Me too. Especially for GTA IV.

Maxing out the Direct2Drive bandwidth it took almost 24 hours for the download to complete. And then I had to go fish around for the correct patches as the original retail version on Direct2Drive is unplayable without them.
#28
goes max with my broadband on d2d ;) - true about the patches though.

when do these rock star deals start?? are they the same time each day? for an hour only?
