It's also £14.99 on Amazon, Game and Gamplay if you prefer a DVD version.

The 4 pack on Steam is also 50% off @ £44.99. If you have 3 other people willing to split the cost then it works out at £11.25 each!

----------------

Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead, the #1 co-op game of 2008.

This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns.

You'll play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you'll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan.

You'll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You'll also encounter five new uncommon common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen.

Helping to take L4D's frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you'll fight through and the pathways you'll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play.

I've had this for about 10 days (off the Game offer) - L4D2 is a very good game and the refinements over the original (Melee weapons, "Uncommon" common infected, more "special infected" types) do flesh out the experience. With "The Passing" DLC coming very soon it could be a good time to get up to speed :)

It seems to have a much more frantic, chaotic character than the previous installment. The "director "in this version does seems to feel the need to spam you with hordes more than its predecessor - I'm not sure if thats my playing style or just the way this game goes.

So far I think the original game offers a "purer" experience - a less confusing arsenal, no need to make strategic decisions as to whether to give up a health pack (to stay alive for longer) for a defibrillator (which can revive dead players) or choose between speed-boosting adrenaline and pain pills - L4D2 offers more nuanced and deeper play, but takes a bit more getting used to than L4D.

As its a Valve game linked to Steam there's not much point going for the DVD version unless you can get a lower price somewhere else - you have to register it with Steam in order to play in any case...

Good deal, but I personally think the original is better.

same here, I played the first one to death-even getting my 53,595 kills achievement, I find if you don't have a really good team that stick together like glue and use mics you'll get picked off by the jockeys and chargers you can lose the round just when you thought it was going ok.
It's like the ai director see's this and decides I'm not having that and spams you until you lose(had three tanks at once the other day :w00t: )-the first L4d wad a bit more forgiving, this one feels like your playing advanced difficulty when your on normal-voted hot btw ;-)

This might not be PC only. Valve have announced that the Steam system is coming to Apple Macs with the release of Portal 2. They've also announced that anything you've bought on the PC side you'll automatically be able to play on the Mac as well, no need to buy it again.

So if you buy this now you'll be able to download it and play it on your Mac when the service starts.

I'd hate to think how much Apple tax there would be on a Mac gaming system.

Great games I had the £30 deal for L4D and L4D2 gifted to me on Steam at Christmas. Can't wait for The Passing DLC :)

Amazing game, i have racked up way too many hours playing this recently. Now bored of the maps because i know them back to front... so The Passing DLC will be well welcomed... along with a new mode too!

Thanks for the helpful comment. I'm thinking of trolling offers for PC systems and commenting how crap they are and that people should buy a Mac, do you think it would be as helpful as you are? :whistling:
