Steam or no steam, £3.24 is a hot deal for mass effect. A stunning game then. A stunning game now.
#2
£3.24? Buy it NOW! :)

Certainly not a bad price, but I'm sure I'll find it in store for less than a fiver soon.
I don't dislike steam, I think it's a great way to find some bargains, but I still prefer a physical copy over a downloadable game.

Well in this case, Steam is better as it doesn't have the extreme version of SecuROM that hard copies of Mass Effect come with. Take a gander at all the 1 star Amazon reviews if you want to see the problems with Mass Effect's DRM.

Hot from me, but I'd say the digital Deluxe edition of Mass Effect 2 is not worth the extra £6 over the standard edition. I'm all for supporting games like this, but I'm not paying extra for some weapons and armour that I won't miss and digital copies of a soundtrackand making of video. The soundtrack is in the game anyway, and if you want making of videos there's bound to be something near enough to it with developer interviews on gametrailers. The only thing that represents some value there is the comic book, but it's not £6's worth.

I really fancied Mas Effect 2 when it came out but I didn't want to play it without having played the original first. At the time I couldn't find any great offers for the first, and having seen it very cheap in the past didn't want to pay more, so at this price definitely going for it.

Thanks, very hot!

TF for broadband. Downloading this game on 56k dial-up would probably take weeks if not months lol

So far my download speed is about 700kb/s, what's your download speed?
#12
Keep an eye out for the Steam deal tomorrow - Dragon Age.

Brilliant game!!

About 250kb/s

Never had a problem with the DRM, thinking it was mainly people who wanted to copy it that did, Its the same with ubisoft nowadays, no problems with it for me (and presumably countless thousands of others) but people are still complaining. Anyway, good price, bought it again to level up my character and import into mass effect 2, on a very cold and dark long month over winter lol

Well hopefully we'll both have it downloaded by morning. I'd have preferred to play it a bit tonight, but it's just not gonna happen.

Been waiting for this to go cheap, now I finally find out what people are on about :) Cheers
#17
great deal on mass effect 1! and i thought it was cheap when it was 7.50 on sale a few months ago

I just read the minimum specs required and I don't think my ati x1600 is up to the job. Doh! If I buy another card, how do I know which one will be compatible with my PC? I've got a Dell Dimension E520.
#19
I am playing through Mass Effect right now and really enjoying it. Well worth £3.24. Voted hot.
#20
I just ordered a 7600GT from Amazon for £37.99, hopefully that'll do the job.

The only problem i have is that i installed steam on my C: drive and thats nearly full and i have a spare D: drive with over 500gb on, i beleive the only way to install steam games on that is to totally reinstall steam again which i just cant be arse to do again and reinstall all those games again.

i bought it yesterday and started playing. seem to be stuck in endless conversations with people on a spaceship. and my squad keeps dieing, then re-appearing. wtf?

this got 100% in reviews? for £3 it fills some time but im underwhelmed at the moment.

are you thick ? how is it the same, ubisofts always online drm prevents people playing the game if they lose their internet connection.
you also cannot play the game if the ubisoft servers go down which happened for the first 2 weeks when they released this drm, so the people who had just purchased the game were not able to play for 2 weeks.
you are instantly kicked out of the game if your internet has a hiccup...losing all your progress.
with this new drm it's ubisoft who decide when you can play and should the company go down then you can go shove this expensive shiny bit of plastic where the sun don't shine as it will become absolutely useless ........unless you go to a pirate site and get a crack :santa:
ironic that the pirates who the games companies hate so much...sometimes fix their games for them.

a very easy fix
just cut your steam folder and paste it to your D:
then run steam from inside the folder and it will sort it all for you

it really is that simple....^^
dont waste time doing back ups or reinstalls....this works 100% as many people do this including myself when changing hard drives.

forgot to comment on the game....the game is superb.
if you're not into rpgs like this then you may need to restart a couple of times so you know what you're doing. a few hours in though and you should start to enjoy it.
dont worry this doesn't end in 5 hours...plenty of life span in this one.
fantastic story pretty good action and very immersive.....the 2nd game is nowhere near as good though.

Yes. I downloaded it via Steam and have it running on Win 7 Pro 64-bit without a problem.
