Behold Torchlight, a fresh new Action RPG franchise developed by Runic Games. Torchlight is being developed in Seattle by a veteran team composed of the designers and leads of projects like Diablo, Diablo II, Mythos, and Fate. Our team has spent many years honing and evolving this unique style of gameplay.

The adventure is set in the mining settlement of Torchlight, a boomtown founded on the discovery of rich veins of Ember - a rare and mysterious ore with the power to enchant or corrupt all that it contacts. This corruptive power may have dire consequences however, and players set out into the nearby mountains and depths below to discover the full extent of Embers influence on the civilizations that have come before.

Runic Games will initially release Torchlight as a standalone Single Player game, Torchlight will be released in the latter part of 2009 as a download or in box. Following the single player release, work will commence on a fully-featured MMO version.

The game has just received an update to add achievements and Steam Cloud support. Try the demo and if you like it, you can upgrade and carry on with the character you were playing.

Steam Achievements have just been added - if that's your bag

Good fun game :)

This game is a steal at that price! It's a really fun RPG in the Diablo mould. Pretty graphics and great sound and lots of places to explore. I bought it at full price and haven't regretted it one bit.

Oh yeah, this game also has great developer support and a growing community, so there will hopefully be more content to come in future.

Good fun game :)

It's also got cloud support too now. Ideal if, like me, you play it on a desktop and laptop depending on your location

Brilliant game, well worth £7.50 of anyone's money.

Looks really good and watched a review of it. States it was made by some of the people behind Diablo. Deffo looks well worth the price.

Fantastic game !! complete Diable rip off, but could never get back into diablo in the same way with the sub par (it is an old game) graphics, this has fixed it, just finished playing for about 7 or 8 hours straight lol, thank you very much OP, would never have known about it otherwise as I dont normally play PC anymore, longest I have played a PC game for about 3 years. Chuffed :-)

Having played Fate - and you can make many comparisons between them as a lot of features and similarities are shared between the two games - I'd say the biggest change here (based on playing the demo) is that it is more focused and less dungeon crawling, you will typically be heading in one direction heading from start to end of a small to large level, whereas Fate was always the same diamond sized big open sprawl of walls and chambers you could find the stairs down next to you or the other side of a level. Oh also the skill trees. But everything seems to die so fast in the demo from a standard attack it's hard to make any assumptions as to how useful and *required* they will be at later levels (ie I don't know if they treat it as a casual game where everything dies nice and easy, and not too hard or it's just easy for the early levels of the demo).
