Agreed. Same games, only more expensive than they were a couple of days ago. Cold.

I'm now just trying to decide what to get from the main sale.

Did you buy them at the same time? Might be why as you need to already own Penumbra.

Any recommendations for things in the sale that were never deals of the day?

I've just bought these to fulfil my adventure needs:
Axel & Pixel - £2.33
Indie Smarts Pack - £3.99 (bought for Puzzle Agent, only 50p extra to get this pack)
Time Gentlemen, please! + Be there, Dan that! - £1.49

Edit: Aaah! - Steam sale cost me £42.57 in total! Shall probably keep me busy until the next one! Great value!

I'm sure nobody will be rude enough to post them after today (as its the last day of the sale) - at least until the next "midweek madness" or weekend deal. :)

out with a whimper instead of a bang.

don't forget the indie packs though, no big names so most people don't fancy trying them but the fright and flight ones are complete bargains you will not regret and the beat, mix and heavy hitter (for those that missed this years humble indie bundle) contain hours of entertainment for next to nothing.

would still recommend killing floor, stalker and plants vs. zombies from todays if you don't have them yet

Son got Plants v Zombies and seems to like it a lot. I got Been There, Dan That and Time Gentlemen Please a while ago and don't think much of them despite positive reviews. Still they are cheap enough to try and at least they aren't taking up shelf space if you don't like them.

Thanks, purchased P vs Z after enjoying the demo. Shame the PC version runs at a low resolution and lacks widescreen support. The Xbox version has it. :/

there were a few which I missed/passed on that I'd rather have given a 2nd chance to reconsider, only really amnesia in there that I'm considering(passed it up originally). guess it's a good thing as I've spent just over £90 in the past 2weeks in this sale, also £16-£17 at ea store in their christmas day sale.
#16
most of the steam sales were rubbish to be fair, that said I still managed to nab about 10 games for under £4 each that I wouldn't touch when they were £10+
#17
the prices are definately more than the 1st time around, such as Left4 dead 2 which was £3.74 last week

If you had left 4 dead 1. This was the price for everyone else (as far as I know)

I personally got it for 3.74 in the summer but this is the price it was earlier in the week.

wasn't going to buy it but wondered that myself.
last time the 1 pound odd discount was specifically mentioned.

looks like they're not offering the 'if you have game x, get game y cheaper' for the final day. during the original period you just needed game x in you library to get the discount.
#24
Ah well, wont bother then. Just a few indie games today for me.

No. I bought Penumbra first, then Amnesia. Maybe it's because I wasn't logged in my account or something?

amnesia or not to amnesia? that is the question. already have pvz, stalker bundle back in august for £6.24(wish I'd waited as I haven't played either game yet), nwn2(got when it was originally on in this sale, l4d2(got the bundle for £7.81 back in october), hitman collection(got when is was on couple days back) and killing floor(got at same time as nww2).

mafia 2 for the ps3 I got in the amazon black friday deals(don't think it's worth getting on the pc as well), I got the episodes from liberty city back in november for £6.80 as I already had gtaiv on the ps3 but now wish I'd held off and got the gtaiv complete pack now. been thinking about dead space but it was cheaper £3.74) in the ea sale on christmas day, also someone said it's better to get the console version as the pc port as problems or something.

Which would you recommend?

I've bought loads! The fright pack is pretty good, also the biggest 'saving' if that bothers you at all (some people are only happy if its an uber-bargain!). Depends on your tastes really, I like puzzles and in particular games I can play randomly as I don't have time to sit at a PC for hours. I got brain, fantasy, smarts and fright packs, but already owned most of the mix and adventure packs through the humble bundles.

In all honesty though its altitude and The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom that I'm loving the most. Altitude is £1.75 and winterbottom is just 39p!

Tell me your favourite game types and hopefully I'll be able to offer more help :)

There is the Frozenbyte collection http://store.steampowered.com/sub/6957/ which includes Trine, Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds Survivor for £4.39.

Trine is £4.24 by itself, and I don't think it has been much lower.

Altitude looks like fun. Shame price has gone back up to £6.99.

I haven't bought a single thing from this year's Steam sale. It's been disappointing really. Last year's sale was brilliant. I have disliked the emphasis on publisher catalogues which seems a bit lazy for a sale, after all what publisher/shopkeeper wouldn't give a discount if you bought everything they produced or sold?

I did note that Killing Floor and Mafia 2 seemed like absolute genuine bargains. But I had them already. Was tempted by the AaaaaaAaa game, but I have so many unplayed Indie games ranging from Vvvvv to Time Gentlemen please.
#31
I have swelled my collection by 27 games this sale! Only spent about 30 quid though, most are indie games or very cheapies. Just played mad balls, which was fun, but back to altitude now...

That's brilliant when you think how silly prices for Black Ops and Starcraft 2 equal 27 games! Glad it worked out for you and thanks for the altitude recommendation - just have to wait for it to go on sale now.
#33
Mad isn't it. Whilst I'd like Starcraft 2 I really can't justify the money when I got Supreme Commander 2 for 2 quid or so! I know they aren't the same game, but will I really get 15x more enjoyment from Starcraft?

Besides which the sheer range of weird games I've played this holiday has got me back into gaming a bit. And I just realised I've not touched the Humble Bundle 2 yet!
