Dunno about today TBH, not as good for me but then everyone has different tastes. I'll get Flight Control I think, am thinking of SC2 as well but it gets mixed reviews.

How come Clear Sky isn't in the STALKER bundle?
That's the only one I don't have as well (_;)

One of the better days, Stalker and the Jedi Knight packs are great value.

How long (on average) does it take you lot to download from Steam.
I bought DiRT 2 the other day and it took 4 hours to download!
#8
Nothing takes my fancy today, but some decent deals again. TF2 is a must for anyone who hasnt already got it.

Wombourne, I always max out my connection here at 1.5mbps, had GTA4 which I bought yesterday down overnight no trouble. You can also create backups of games "locally", so if your forever reiinstalling like some, saves lots of time and bandwidth.

if you want the hitman collection buy them individually... the collection is 4.49 individually totals 4.47...

I have 50Mb broadband, but rarely get that from the steam servers. TBH though it is stupidly fast, I had 15Gb coming down the other day and it still only took a few hours.

depends on your isp and whether steam servers are getting a hammering

watch your isp though - mine virginmedia kindly implemented throttling on mine reducing my conn from usually 17-19mbs to 1-4mbs........throttling is fair enough i guess but thats way too low imo

check your speed at http://www.speedtest.net and if its lower than you expect, pause/stop your download and wait, keep cheking till it improved then start your download again or do overnight...you might find it downloads alot quicker this way

I really don't get that "old and naff" comment what so ever, it's kinda silly to say that as many old games are still as fun if not more fun than recent ones.

it's a bit freaky as I was looking at the star wars jedi knight bundle just yeasterday, was wondering if the dark forces games would work on windows vista and windows 7.

I got the stalker bundle back in august for £6.24, haven't played them yet(only have SoC downloaded), prob should have waited :(

also have supreme comander, got it end of november tho can remember how much.

looking at far cry 2(already have the first one, worth getting the complete pack for £1.25 more?), maybe the hitman and star wars bundles not sure. also thinking about the c&c games tho not sure as have spent ~£70 so far in the sale.
#15
I already own and finished Far Cry 1 & 2 and the STALKER bundle. Both brilliant game combos for this money. I got most the good ones in the sale last year so not a great deal has really tickled my fancy this year.

Ditto. Every single one of these Steam deal threads has a spattering of ignorant comments about games being "old". Since when did that have any impact on gameplay or make a blind bit of difference to us gamers? I still enjoy playing Sonic 2 ffs!

Great deals today.
#18
splashed out on far cry 2 and stalker bundle :)
#19
Agreed, some of my favourite games are several years old. TBH I'm loving the indie games at the min, and at £3.99 for 5 there are some bargains there.
#20
Got Far Cry 2. £2.49 vs £15.32 on Amazon is an ok deal. Shame that FC2 wasn't more like FC1 though. Come back Jack Carver, all is forgiven!
#21
Today seems to be a good RTS game, but not sure if the Total War pack would be worth the money at £15.

eh, it was directed at the hitman games dummy not all old games which i think havent aged well, alot of old games are great...im old enough to remeber when the first consoles came out...atari vcs, the eyewateringly expensive collecovision (or however you spelt, was about the same price as a cheap new car i think - can you imageine that a console same price as a ford ka lol), zx80, zx81, spectrum, etc - jetset willy, collecovision football, jetpac, rare's semi 3d adventures (knight lore, etc) and who can forget 3d monster maze on the zx81

It's a 10.5GB game?
#25
Couple of extra bonuses Empire and Napoleon total war pack is £11.99 if you own Rome or Medieval 2 total war and the add on DLC for supreme commander 2 is down to £1.74 from £6.99 too :)
#26
I'll have to get the Jedi Knight pack, those were some of the best FPS ever made. The level design on the Dark Forces II and Mysteries of the Sith is brilliant. Jedi Outcast and Academy had great multiplayer, I doubt there's many on the MP now though.
#27
Tempted to buy the Jedi pack, do they still have servers running for academy and outcast?

I was wondering that too. The light sabre battles in MP were pure gaming gold.
#29
total war looks great if you have the time and patience, like the online battles
#30
bought total war pack
chenobyl pack - have chenobyl already oh well
far cry2

well just got far cry complete(fc1 & fc 2 for £3.74) and flight control hd. also got the dlc for supreme commander (£1.74, was £3.25 or similar just the other day. been thinking about getting this since the sale started, good thing I waited) and dlcs for just cause 2 £3.45(were these reduced further when just cause was on sale as I didn't notice, hope they aren't reduced to under £2 by the 2nd).

trying to decide if I should get either the hitman or star wars packs.

Another poor selection by my reckoning.
Though I did buy Soldiers Heroes of WW2 (not in sale) & Theatre of War

old hat.

no mistake, get supreme commander2 and it's DLC, get far cry 2 and get stalker 1 & 3 as they are all great games for a pittance but only new and interesting thing on sale today is c&c/RA games, the rest have been cheap and will be again.

getting farcry2 and c&c3 and it's expansion but only deals i would recommend today are supcom2 (£4.30ish with the addon which is worth it tbh, great if plain game), farcry2 and the stalker pack (simply amazing games but the first one benefits from being extensively modded and the 3nd is a bit slow starter, less said about the 2nd the better)

just had a look at my game library, the dlcs I got aren't showing up and looking at their store page is saying add to cart rather than you've already purchased. I haven't installed either just cause 2 or supreme commander 2 yet, will the dlcs install at the same time when I install the games(or will I have to fork out again for the dlcs?)?

I want Empire Total War, but I'm not over-excited at the prospect of paying £15 for the package.
There's a new one due so it doesn't seem worthwhile.

The Stalker pack is interesting, but I will admit to 'trying' them and removing hastily. I feel I should give it another go, but my initial impression was that I should spend my time getting through Fallout instead.

My patience has been rewarded! I waited it out all sale for Team Fortress 2 to come on a daily sale and it did. :) Very happy with that.

why get TF2 regardless of the price ? get orange box, thing is crazy cheap at £16 and was £6 and likely will be again before sale ends.

and as for DLC's rightclick game > properties > dlc on a game to see it and it automatically installs, some addons have separate entries on your steam games list but most get automatically installed.

get stalker anyone who has not got first, those who have that can make their minds up even if they get only 3rd game in the pack. even unmodded the game is superb and in current state free from most of the bugs that plagued it - fairly open world FPS but the setting and story is among the best of all modern FPS, plus even as old as it is the graphics are amazing and again mindblowing after mod. mod the game with oblivion lost or similar if you want the best experience though, but vanilla is great in itself.

thats just stalker 1, stalker 2 (clear sky) is a great game but it has a different distributor so won't appear on steam, plus the AI is so broke it's gamebreaking, takes many restarts when the storyline simply does not advance. COP the 3rd stalker is an odd one, free from any bugs but just throws you into the game with little background and no story - gets better, some of the quests are edge-of-the-seat tense and the scenery in the zone is simply beautiful, but even though its a better game the first's story is better

hell will freeze over before I put Steam back on any of my Pc's.

Remember if interested in any of the command & conquer expansions that you need the steam variant of the original game to run the expansion except Uprising as it's stand alone but the lack of co-op annoys me.

Fully agree. I completed the first one about 10 times before I tried the oblivion lost mod. It's the best game enhancing mod I've ever tried.
