This steam sale is the best steam sale ever.

The THQ packs and the EIDOS/Square ones are amazing value.

Key with any Steam sale though is the daily deals, as often the publisher packs get cut even further in price, although I would be shocked if the THQ one went even lower.

Well, this keeps getting duped and this is the original (I think although I've seen about 5000 "Steam are having a sale" threads in the last few hours so I could be wrong); and if all the heat added to the dupes were on this then this would be at about 2000 heat. Gawd knows why this is stuck on 25 heat but heated

As this is the one true posting, the sub £4 games I recommend are Grid, the Witcher, Space Rangers 2 Reboot, Overlord, Painkiller, Trine and Kings Bounty.

Cheers Andy. AFAIK this is the original, but there was some mix up and it was removed for an hour or so and people posted a lot of the individual deals in the mean time. Cheers to whoever reinstated it though!

OK cool, will add the others to the OP, cheers.

Looks like all the heat is getting to Steam's store server - its looking a bit flaky at the moment :)

Some amazing deals!

My tip would be to make a wish list of games and then get them all on the last day to make sure you don't miss out on any of them being put on the daily deals (Hoping for Episodes from Liberty City personally).

Just got Trine today, it can go on the very long "still waiting to be played" list with all the stuff from the Xmas sale!

Under £7 go for Tropico 3, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Borderlands The Island of Dr Ned.

Braid, Zombie Driver and Alien Breed are overpriced.

I am very tempted by Lead and Gold for a fiver - half price. And Bioshock 2 is good for £9.99.

Site was a bit hard to navigate and sort.

We have to ask ourselves - why now? Why are Steam doing this? Is it the emergency budget? Is it competition from EA, Impulse, Green Man Gaming, etc. I was looking forward to the Christmas sale..It's probably just the summer lull in publishing and games purchasing.

I am not complaining. This is just what people need right now.

Excellent price for Killing Floor!

Trine is awesome, simple gameplay but takes the horizontal platformer to a new level, looks superb, but plays even better

Will COD United Offensive and WAW work on windows 7?
#13
wish WAW would reduce to a more reasonable amount. I only want it for the zombie mode :/

But what if the prices go up?! I've been holding out for the id Super Pack for ages, I wasn't going to pay £38 but at £18.99 I think its a bit of a bargain. I doubt it'll ever go down to the lowest price it ever was, but you're saying you think some of these games / packs might be in better deals through the week?
#16
dammit you steam *****! i would get some if i didnt have a mac, so glad css is out of beta though what a relief. heat

Excellent price for Killing Floor!

Just had a look at the trailer , seems worth a punt at £3.75
#18
The THQ complete pack is a bargain. (£26.49 )

All the Dawn of war games (1 +2 and all the add-ons)
Company of heroes + add-ons
Metro 2033
Red faction 1+2
Stalker
Juiced 2
Saints row 2

and quite a few others too!
#19
I went for Killing Floor and the Unreal Pack so far. I'll probably pick up id Super Pack, CoD Pack, Clive Barker's Jericho, and Shadowlands Pack.

Any other decent first person shooters I'm missing out on?

WAW definitely works on Win7
#21
Think I'll be picking up Torchlight for £7.49. Really liked the demo and nearly bought it for £15 last week.

Great work Steam!

Wow, for people wanting to build a collection that's an insane deal!
Unfortunately I already own all the ones i'd ever want out of that set
#25
just a note, but Game had Peggle Nights for £1.98 when i was in there the other day.
#26
Can someone recommend me some games as I haven't played for years!!!

I loved the following:

Fable
Fallout 3
Riddick (Butcher Bay)
Elite (I'm showing my age lol)
C&C Zero Hour
The Longest Journey

Anything similar?

The Introversion Complete pack (featuring Darwinia, DEFCON, Multiwinia and Uplink) is a BARGAIN for a fiver.

Just noticed that Puzzle Kingdoms is EIGHTY PENCE -- a staggering 95% discount. I haven't played it and the reviews seem to indicate that it's not much different to its predecessor, Puzzle Quest, but as that game is INSANELY ADDICTIVE I'm going to snap this one up without hesitation.

Also, Gravitron 2 is on sale for £2. It's only 99p off the regular price but it's a great, and sadly overlooked, game; very similar to the game Thrust on the old 8-bit computers, but with additional gameplay twists and retro-modern graphics (think Geometry Wars).

You can get it for free if you create a PopCap Passport account at www.popcap.com. It says the free copy is for a friend or relative but you can easily gift it to the same email address you sign up with.

a few games i think its worth having:
trine, grid, fuel, dirt, css, the THQ pack (alone for metro, stalker, company of heroes and titan quest), lead and gold

there are loads of other good ones but a lil too pricey for a decent sale.
#29
Missed The Witcher in the Xmas sales so great to see them down again.

Wish i'd waited for this THQ pack as you get much much better value than last years one (even though that was already an insane deal anyway), only really played CoH from that set :(
#30
Already have most of the titles I want, but have been tempted by The Witcher for a while.
Fingers crossed for a 'proper' price drop on Borderlands though :)
#31
Oh wow, what a fantastic deal. Wish I had a credit card now....I would love to get the overlord pack. *sigh*

Devastated....

Do steam have prepaid cards or something? reply appreciated.

I would love to play COD United Offensive as i have played it a little bit before when i had XP on my pc. It looked good and i would love to complete it as i have finished all the games before and after it except WAW.
#34
steam is defo the way to go, they do some stonking deals recently and the service is spot on. another good thing is that if you already have some games they let you give them as gifts to someone else.
#35
Just to add to everyone else above.....

Trine is a MUST buy at this price. A cracking little platform/puzzle game, drew me in like no other game has in years.

Buy it.
#36
Bought Trine and Overlord Pack from the daily deals and will be buying a whole bunch more on payday after i have sniped a few of the better daily deals.
#37
Kings Bounty is a must for anyone that played the original, I will get the "Armoured Princess" now.
#38
Puzzle Quest Kingdoms 80p - Not as good as the original, but for this price you cannot miss it!
#39
Painkiller and Trine are truely bargainous!

HOT!
#40
