Good deal, thanks. Heat and rep added. Many ironing boards are too small or not sturdy enough for stem generator irons. Hopefully this one is good for the job.

I bought the identical board to this, but with a pink and white cover, from Argos at the beginning of the year. It's a huge board, excellent as you don't need to keep moving items every second. It's heavy too, but copeable. Very sturdy.

The only downside I've noticed is that my steam generator unit doesnt fit properly on the platform part. I have a Russell Hobbs one and the big cables come out of the back of the generator unit at the bottom and it gets in the way of the little "fence" that goes round the iron platform. It means the generator unit sits slightly off kilter. Its not dangerous or anything, but, i was just surprised that a steam generator board didnt accommodate it.

Having said that, Im delighted with the board, and wouldnt change it.

Good deal was in need of a new board.

Thanks.

Just what I need, thanks. Will this stop the cover getting soaked with all the steam?

The cover doesn't get soaked at all, because the board is mesh stuff. However... after ironing for a while, condensation builds up on the underside and i've had a couple of very hot drips of water land on my legs from there (I sit down to iron). If you stand to iron it should be okay, but be aware that when you fold the board up, you will likely have some water dripping off the bottom end.

For the sake of marital harmony, please DON'T buy your wife an ironing board for her birthday, you are likely to get it wrapped around your head - buy her some flowers from asda and get the ironing board the week after.

You mean 'here's some flowers for your birthday but you'll have to wait for real present until next week?'

What with the anticipation etc I would like to be a fly on the wall when that was being delivered!!

NO! you should never tell her the ironing board is for her birthday, buy the flowers/perfume/chocolates for her birthday then come in with the ironing board a few days later and say that you found yourself a new hobby and that you will do all the ironing from now on. That will be worth more to her than any expensive gift you could buy.

Sod that, sounds too complicated. Just get her the board, she will love it. Make it even better by telling her that if she is avery good wifey until Xmas you will buy her a lovely new iron to go with it. She will be absolutely made up.

There is a tag on mine saying not to put steam generator on the shelf! So I guess its not made for a steam generator but lets see if it holds it :p
I can always put the steam generator on top but I thought the point was to have it out of sight.
