If your kids have an account they can share your steam games (as long as you are not playing it at same time).

I didn't know this, do you need to be on the same network?

No will work if they are at university or a different network once set up. Look up family sharing. (I share with my kids, across two houses)

Cool, I'll have a look into it, perfect for my little brother who doesn't have many games but I have 500 and am usually at work when he's at home.

Basically with family sharing you have to authorize the computer to allow your account to family share. Click Steam, Settings, Family. Only stipulation as mentioned is the "library" cannot be in use in more than one place at a time. Hardware changes mess with it though network doesn't matter.

I prefer Microsoft implementation, locking down the whole library (not just the game) kinda puts a bummer in its use for most people (other than those with kids obviously where the control is important).

Is the complete Saga simply a compilation of the original Lego star wars (prequel episodes 1-3) and its follow-up (based upon original ep. 4-6)?

Got Battlefront II. Should be good on my 58" screen now.

And the gameplay in it is light years ahead of the shallow but pretty dross that is the recent Star Wars Battlefront. I still play BF2 on maxed out settings on the PC.

LEGO® Star Wars™ - The Complete Saga is fun, and well worth 99p (usual price is £14.99, from which it only goes down to £2.50 or so discounted). Good reviews too:
LEGO® Star Wars™ - The Complete Saga Metacritic: 77% (26 critics, 6.7 from 120 users), Steam: Very Positive 91% (1693 reviews)
STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ II has good reviews too, but isn't as kid-friendly:
STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ II Steam: Very Positive 90% (17718 reviews), Metacritic is 78% (according to Steam).

Battlefront 2 PS2 works superbly on the PCSX2 emulator, but anyways great prices and heat added.

A big part of most kids childhood for 99p nice :D

I have BF2 but for the life of me cannot seem to play it online with others. I assume I have to download some other software? Anyone happen to know?
#26
Thanks for the great find. Just purchased from Game and received a Steam code within minutes. Plus.... when you enter the code you can pick/play the Mac version.

Yes, that's correct. It's Lego Star Wars (2005) + Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (2006).
Then there's Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (based on the animated series) and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens (obviously based on Episode VII).

But why would you play the PS2 version on PC when there's a native PC version? Especially as it's primarily a multiplayer game and presumably it's much easier to play online on the PC version than the PS2 version. Is it for the splitscreen?

Yeah, Steam's good like that. If you own the game, you own it for whatever operating system(s) it's available for and it will just install the right version for you - plus, if you own any Windows-only games, you can easily filter them out of your library list when you're on a Mac.

The reason is that the game originally used Gamespy but that shut down in 2013. Some games were patched to use Steam servers (or other servers) for online, but sadly Battlefront II wasn't one of them. There are a few alternatives that you can use instead, the best ones being GameRanger and SWBFSpy. GameRanger is a good program used for many games that don't have official servers anymore whereas SWBFSpy is Battlefront II specific. They're both pretty straightforward to use and there are plenty of guides for them - the Steam discussion boards are a good place to start.

Because Roms are easily free to download online and I'm too cheap to get the actual game for 99p 8)

I still think you've made life difficult for yourself! You could just as easily have pirated the PC version and it would run better and have better access to multiplayer. But hey, if it's working for you!

Yeah I could have done that, but I have other great games on the emulator like Gran Turismo 4, Kingdom Hearts and God of War which I can easily switch between, and Battlefront 2 PS2 works flawlessly on the emulator for me (I don't really care about the online because the game is so damn awesome on single player) so I don't really need the PC version atm.

Hi Voted Cold cos Ive signed up to Game gave them all my personal info, bought the game from game, now they redirected to another site, want me to sign up to that, download and install their 3rd party site software (STEAM client) and give them full direct access to my Pc

No chance, it's a Legal scam (part of a data monitoring & collection exercise in which you'll end up figure in many stats) If the software to play the game was download as Rar/Zip File Straight to desktop good, but never liked the idea of having to have unnecessary software on my Pc phone etc when there's absolutely no need to have it cos my machine can run games or programs perfectly well without 3rd party STEAM client spyware software etc

Lots online casinos use this system of installing 3rd party software to your Pc it's a scam it's a sham and no matter what they are giving away or giving cheap believe me they are getting something worth much more than 99p off you, without your knowledge, full understanding or even with it, so cold unless your okay parting with all your personal info to shifty online company's and having your privacy invaded

Steam is great - it's hardly a 3rd party software monitoring device, Steam's bigger than GAME

Also allows you to play on multiple devices although not at once if you think Steams bad Origin is far worse

hi Yiddo4life Ive never heard of Origin before just Steam years ago forgot about them till now and they are still at it, but could imagine what Origin are like, they are all bad. but that's well outta order of game deceiving people into thinking they are buying a game, then they get redirected to another site/different Company and have to mess around with them, it's sneaky and under handing. that's like joining a bank giving them your money, then going to get cash out and being told, you have to go join the other bank 20 mins up the road in order to get access to your cash, see what i mean? also it's the fact you are processed just like the very item your buying, passed around so others can milk profit from you
