I dont really understand how these work as i`m old.
My son has a gaming computer which he plays WoW on and Battlefield 1...would this benefit him or not?
Tried ringing him but getting no answer.

This allows you to use any TV in the house instead of sitting in front of the computer.

If he is happy siting at the computer then this offers no benefit.

The Mobile site is working. Not the desktop.

These are great. Pair it with a k400 Logitech wireless keyboard and a 360/XB1 pad and you're set!

Hows the latency compared to nvidias streaming? Thats all done in hardware hence only works on nvidia gpus, how does this compare? Moonlight on my phone is almost in perfect sync with tv.

It allows you to stream what would be on your PC to anything with an HDMI input, like your living room TV. You connect controllers direct to the link (supports PS4 controllers and xbox using the USB adapter for PC) and your control input is relayed back to the PC. One thing I would point out is they are widely criticised for poor performance on even the best wireless networks. Ideally you will be able to connect both the link and your PC to your router via ethernet cable for optimal performance. It's great for rocket league and similar games. Also WoW and Battlefield 1 are not Steam games, though you can "add" them to Steam and they may work over the link. I bought Witcher 3 from GoG, not an official Steam game but works fine over the link.

This is also the best price I have seen in the UK, I got one from steam earlier this year for about £24 + whatever stupid rate they charge for delivery.

I didn't notice much lag, but I'm only a casual gamer (using Powerline adapters).

This review states that competitive gamers with FPS games will probably notice it.

No, you can't use it at the same time. It simply transmits the picture of the PC to the TV and acts as a relay for control inputs.
The PC is still doing all the work at the other end.

as far as I understand it, it mirrors your PC so you can't use it and the Steam Link at the same time

Personal experience: Bought it at full price shortly after it came out and it is an absolutely amazing device if you have wired (or fast powerline) connection to both your pc and the steam link and a graphics card that is new enough to handle the encoding for streaming (h.264). Only niggle is that you may still have to go to the PC to handle things if a game crashes.
Since I already had a gaming rig, this essentially gave me a console in the living room that beats anything on the market for an extra 30 quid, so two thumbs way up.
However if you have an older machine or wifi only, don't bother as the lag will be too high and encoding in software will fry your cpu, leaving not much power for the actual game.
