Game play in King Arthur is an eclectic mix of real-time strategy, role-playing, and grand strategy elements. Much like the Total War series by SEGA, the grand strategy portion of the game is played on a large campaign map of Britannia. When a battle is fought, the action changes to a real-time strategy mode. However, differences have been noted between King Arthur and Total War, such as the position of the battle on the large-scale map having minimal impact on the environment of the battlefield, and the prominent role of fantasy in King Arthur.

Never played this game myself but it has an average rating of of 79/100 on Metacritic, enjoy!

If I'm honest I'd never heard of the game, but since seeing this deal I've been watching video's of it on Youtube and it looks great! Going to be picking it up myself, I thought it would be an old title but it only came out at the end of 2009 :)

Considering getting this, heard it's similar to the total war series. If anyone gets it, please let us know how it is.

I'm downloading as we speak mate, it's a 7GB download so will take my 8MB line a wee while to grab it! I'll also let you know how it runs on my rig.

got it with the dlcs(bar the new druids one) for £3.74 during the christmas sale, not played it since buying it so if I'd waited would have saved myself 45p(£2.24 for the main game + £1.05 for the saxons dlc(which infact includes 3 dlcs) = £3.29).

hoepefully by the time I get around to playing and completing what I have the druids dlc will be only couple quids.

Phew - it's a good job that it runs well on that system. I'd hate for you to have to shove in ANOTHER GFX card. ;)

its like a slightly simpler version of total war, but easier to get into.....thought total war was good but terrible for newbies
#18
I got this in the steam crimbo sale and it's worth getting the complete pack fro 9 quid. Much simpler than total war but so much more fun as it takes away most of the boring stuff. Not a ground breaker but at that price well worth it.

Well, this thread convinced me to buy it. Not sure when I'll get round to playing it though! :)

Quality game.

Nice little game gets abit tricky at around 30 turns into the campaign, its seems some units are very overpowered (archers)

Great game - purchased yesterday and have played it for about 3 hours. Would agree with everyone's comments about it having a simplified management section (not a bad thing), but once in battle it is very similar to Total War.

There is an option to weaken archers by the way.

Yeah i just noticed that, i have completed Empire and Napoleon total war on hard and i struggled on this with normal. Should keep me occupied until Shogun 2 though..

I bought the main game and also the Saxons DLC pack of 3. Oddly, the Saxons DLC pack does not appear in my games library list in Steam.

Has anyone else bought this DLC? Can you confirm whether it should appear in the list pls?

Tri/Quadfire support is often flakey, and my 5770's aren't very high end cards, good VFM when you pair two up though :)
