A remake of one of the best FPS games ever made. Really fun, absolutely crazy and ocasionally scary. It's so hectic that they didn't even put a reload button in :P

Great price.

Excellent Game.

Really good price.

better price then in the previous sale

Loved the original. 16 player co-op sound hilarious.
My trusty laptop ATI X1600 just scrapes minimum requirements.

Serious Sam HD comes to xbox live on the 13th Jan (just in case people buy this, but might want it on a console instead)

Yeah this was great the first time around - loved it. Nobody had done an FPS where they just constantly throw hundreds of cannon fodder enemies at you for years before this, and nobody has done it since really. And I miss it!

That and I think it has the award of having the biggest final boss in an FPS ever.

Oooh, fun

Any idea if it has multiplayer, and how many points it'll be?

Try Painkiller - released in 2004 (three years after Serious Sam) but it's exactly what you describe - a real old-school FPS where wave upon wave of enemies swarm at you. Playing it really reminded me of the original Doom, but the graphics are gorgeous (well, they were five years ago anyway!)

Co-incidentally, it also has some of the most gigantic end of level bosses I ever saw. I haven't played Serious Sam, so I can't say which are bigger, but these guys are really freaking big. :-D

I used to play this when it first came out years ago!

But try 'Killing Floor'. Available on Steam, up to about 22 player co-op, hundreds of cannon fodder zombies.
Best thing is you don't really wonder around, you just stand your ground and blast the hordes as they try to overrun you...
Got it the other day for £7.49 most fun game in ages!

Painkiller is similar to Serious Sam, but it's far slower paced and far darker. The enemies are similarly big in both ;)

Cracking price for a great remake. I paid £18 on release. Never again!
#13
Hope it still has all the original sfx. I'll never forget the screaming bomber.

Quality blast from the past for a friday afternoon - H&R added

I got this for £10 from another online retailer, having been set very keen after seeing the video clip of it. That was about two months ago, I've played it twice since.

I've found the game unplayable. I also note the couple of friends in my steam list who linked me to the video-clip have also played less than an hour.

I never played this the first time around so perhaps I lack the sentimentality of other people, but I found little merit in this game.

Also, having HD in it's title suggests that the graphics may be credible(I realise that they are relative to the old game and that is the legitimate intent of the title), but it looks awful, instead of playing a 10 year old game you're playing a 5 year old game.

Well, to expand just a little, I'm not sure what people enjoy about this game. Where is the merit?

Looks fun

Bought this when it first came out, already had the original and playing the co-op with 3 mates was quite possibly one of the funniest things I've ever played.
#22
Multiplayer is definitely more entertaining than singleplayer witht this game :)

Although this video is for a different game it sums up what makes Serious Sam enjoyable (probable swearing in video):

With Serious Sam though it's not very good in single player as the wide open levels are really designed to be filled to the brim with enemies which it can't do if you're on your own. It's much better with four or so player as that's how the game has been designed to work, with far more firepower the game can spawn far more enemies. Of course you can go up to 16 player but at that point I find the game is a bit crazy as there's just carnage all around as you bulldoze through the levels.

Serious Sam was, frankly, a bit *****. PainKiller, now that's a quality all-action FPS for you.
