Back by popular demand, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition faithfully re-imagines the internationally-acclaimed classic game (originally released in 1990) for original and new audiences alike. The development team at LucasArts is bringing the game into the modern era with an all new re-imagined contemporary art style, a re-mastered musical score, full voiceover, and an in-depth hint system to help players through the games side-splitting puzzles. Purists will also delight in the ability to seamlessly switch between the updated hand-drawn re-imagining and the original classic version.

The game's twisty plot leads our naive hero on a hilarious, swash-buckling search for the fabled secret of Monkey Island. Tales of pirate wealth lure him to the port of M?e with high hopes, no money, and insatiable curiosity. If clever enough, he will win the confidence of M?e's pirates and find himself blown by the winds of fate toward the terrifying and legendary Monkey Island -- an adventure that would chill the bones of even the most bloodthirsty buccaneer.

WOW.....at that price, if you have not already and are into classic graphic adventures, even if you have played it before, buy it. If you were only just about born in the 90s but can appreciate or curious to know what the fuss was about with graphic point and click adventures, buy it. For the sake of Lucasarts return to the fray of looking at their funds from this in relation to making future graphic adventures after their 10 year hiatus from the format, buy it. Just buy it!

This is good if you have never played it i guess. I personally don't like all the fancy new pictures and thinks it looks better old school. Nothing will ever beat monkey island 2, that game was just so good on so many levels.

look behind you!!! it's a three headed monkey !

This isn't even that old! I bought it at launch and still haven't got round to finishing, wish I'd waited now. Great game and well worth it at this price. however this deal did remind me to check steam and it seems Garry's Mod is also 50% off at £2.99. Has to be worth it just for a mess about at that price, right?

On the 360 version you can flick it over to the old school version so i would think it would prob be the same for the pc version anyone?

I have only just signed up with steam after keep hearing about all the good deals. I downloaded Braid last week for cheap and will prob pick this up at 50% off.

Seems a very good deal for a relatively new game.

Just purchased. Nice.

Knew this would happen, glad I waited. Was going to hold out for the lucasarts classics pack they will no doubt put together some time down the road, but even if I end up with this more than once I can live with the £3.49 price tag!

Downloading now, just about to crack open a bottle of grog.

Just finished it last night, the voice acting is excellent.

I play through the lucasarts back catalogue every couple of years, best set of games ever.

SCUMMVM - possibly the greatest bit of software ever.

I wonder if they'll do something similar for xbla, I think this is all to coincide with talk like a pirate day.

It's on XBLA isn't it? Or do you mean cheap?

I mean cheap, 50% off and I'm there. But they can **** off if they think I'm paying full price for a re-release of something I already own several times over.

I seem to recall playing one of the monkey island games years and years ago.

Can't remember if I liked it or not, or even which one it was but for £3.50 i decided to buy it, will give me something to do over the weekend :-)

Edit

Wasn't this one i'd played before, however enjoyed the game well worth £3.50
