X-COM: Apocolypse
X-COM: Enforcer
X-COM: Interceptor
X-COM: Terror From the Deep
X-COM: UFO Defense

--------------------

There's something evil in the city tonight...

Earth has been ravaged by human excess, petty conflict and alien invasion. The world's population has been herded into huge cities, the first of which was Mega Primus.

2084: A Utopia shattered, social collapse and civil unrest reigns in Mega Primus. Fiendish aliens terrorize the city. UFOs swarm through Dimensional Gateways. The city's under siege from an unknown enemy.

Your mission, as X-COM Commander, is to combat alien aggression and uncover their deadly intentions. But Beware! Alien infiltration into the city and its politics could see you under fire from criminal gangs, religious sects, and even the police!

Alien fleets fill the skies, creatures terrorize the city, chaos reigns... Welcome to the war, welcome to the Apocalypse.

I noticed that too, same for the Freedom Force pack. The news item does say that they should be £2 though: http://store.steampowered.com/news/3384/
#2
strange as the advert says £1 pic to follow

At the bottom of the advert it says £2?
#3
It's been fixed now, they both say £2.
#4
$2 on the US site.

Doh, thought I'd finally found my first deal and then this showed up as a duplicate :)

Didn't find it on the search tho! heh

Heat! Love these classic games

The £1 price in the image was a mistake by Valve, as owned up to by staff member...

If you are still seeing the £1 image then that's because it is in your browser's cache. Try a forced refresh (most of the time just CTRL+F5) and it will pull the updated version from Steam.

Classic set of great games - well worth it!

Happy days! I used to really enjoy these games, bought them cheap on disk but wouldn't work on vista, hopefully via steam they should be ok on Windows 7

God what a pile of [email protected] these are, they were [email protected] first tiem around and still are, when I spotted them was dissapointed, normally look forward to getting a good bargain on a normally good game and tropico 3 doesnt look that great either, oh well, back to BFBC2 beta !
#10
Played these some years back and they were pretty engrossing. A good challenge too - this is a great deal
#11
I remember playing XCOM was amazing - buy buy buy

if you enjoyed rebelstar raiders on the zx spectrum you should enjoy ufo defence and terror from the deep. they are from the same guys.
#13
Great deal, Cuddy you should put Freedom Force & Tropico 3 as well :D
#14
Some brilliant timeless games, bargain! Bought and heat added.

Repped.

Julian Gollop is my favourite game designer ever. :-D

I loved Rebelstar, Rebelstar Raiders, and Laser Squad, and Enemy Unknown, but was rather disappointed with Terror From The Deep (as it hadn't moved forward from the last game at all). Haven't tried any of the later ones.

Seen a few deals I've liked for Steam lately, but I confess I'm not a member and don't really know what it is. (TBH I don't play games on the pc much, preferring the xbox360 instead, but I've played some of course and the pc is reasonable spec.)
Would I be right in assuming it's free to join and then you pay to download games to your computer?

H&R to the OP, btw ;-)

steam just saved the PC gaming industry

Will these work on Vista via steam?

IMO Steam stuff's only worth buying when it's on a deal, their normal catalogue is massively overpriced the rest of the time.
#19
OK, so I own X-Com already, but I'm buying. Why? because my CD version needs a lot of work to get going when I feel the urge nowadays, and this will be set to run. Go deal!
#20
The Gollop Brothers are genius.
I have bought these games 3 times in all to keep them working on different versions of Windows and bought this pack at £15.
A steal at this price.

there is big £1 in the advert about 1 inch high cant you see it?

Yes I could, but I was just pointing out that it also said £2 (twice) at the bottom of the advert, so it was contradicting itself?! Someone in the graphics department having a silly moment maybe!
#22
I bought this last month at £6! :( I waited for about 1/2 a year for it to go down in price and so when it was on 25% off, I thought, what the heck.

Haven't played it yet and now its £2!

Go get it!!!!

Heh, I've become a bit of a hoarder when it comes to Steam, I sense if I hadn't bought em on a previous deal I'd have paid the damn pound just to increase my games list by 5 more titles :)

As it is, they're fine turn based strategy games, but VERY old, to warn you in advance. They originally came out 94-2000 ish, so some predate even windows 95!

However, Steam handles it all, running DOSBOX automatically and just letting you play the damn things with no messing about, another reason to pay a quid! No configuration, no patching, no trouble!
#24
Most of my school time was spent playing xcom ufo enemy unknown, this is a steal!

Thankyou
#25
What a freaking deal! I loved this game and have loved it more since replaying it inumerable amounts of times! I have all the old strategy guides for 1+2 but installing them was such a pain.

Again, if you've any doubt, just buy these. Unprecedented playability and no game I have played since has still quite matched its replayability.
#26
What's amazing is that X-com Apocalypse is a 20 meg download & is on many well respected top 25 PC games of all time lists.

Then you've got games like GTA IV & Far Cry 2... a budget of millions, multi gigabyte installations & zero fun.
#27
just the excuse I needed to sign up to steam. Steam looks like a great addition to have on my NC10

Yeah, my CD copy of X-COM is for DOS 6, and I used to run it on my first PC, a Intel 486DX with 4MB of ram. Look past the graphics for the gameplay and it'll pay big rewards.

Very old games, surprised if they run on vista

Runs fine on windows 7, who uses Vista anymore?
#31
The whole point of this deal and the games re-launch was that they are now fixed to work perfectly on new computers with vista/7 etc.

Runs fine on Windows 7 64bit, at least as well as it ever did on my old pc :)

I missed these games, they are a real challenge, only game I liked more was "Reunion" although I never ever figured out how to win, after a certain amount of time I'd get invaded and get my ass kicked heh.
