1408: Renowned horror novelist Mike Enslin (Cusack) only believes what he can see with his own two eyes. After a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he scoffs at the concept of an afterlife. Enslin's phantom-free run of long and lonely nights is about to change forever when he checks into suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel for his latest project, "Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms." Defying the warnings of the hotel manager (Jackson), the author is the first person in years to stay in the reputedly haunted room. Another bestseller may be iminent, but like all Stephen King heroes, Enslin must go from skeptic to true believer - and ultimately survive the night.

The Stand: When a deadly man-made virus destroys 99% of the Earth's population, those left alive are haunted by visions and dreams luring them into two camps--good or evil--and eventually to a final conflict. Stephen King's apocalyptic tale of the battle between the forces of Good and Evil is ably adapted from his best selling novel.

Pet Sematary: For most families, moving is a new beginning. But for the Creeds, it could be the beginning of the end. Because they've just moved in next door to a place that children built with broken dreams, the Pet Sematary. It's a tiny patch of land that hides a mysterious Indian burial ground with the powers of resurrection. Master Of The Macabre, Stephen King, will take you and the Creeds to hell and back. (But the Creeds don't have return tickets.) Your tour guide is kindly old Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynn), the neighborhood nice guy who knows the secrets of life, but has seen enough to firmly believe that "sometimes dead is better."

The Golden Years: When aging janitor Harlan Williams is accidentally exposed to exotic chemicals in a lab explosion, he undergoes an extraordinary change. It's a process the government will do anything to learn more about - no matter who has to die in the process. Soon, Harlan, his wife Gina and the lab's beautiful security chief are on a cross-country race to evade a murderously effective federal agent. But even as he stays one step ahead of his ruthless pursuers, Harlan continues his transformation into something the world of science has never seen... or imagined!

The Langoliers: Something bizarre has happened aboard flight #29...a nightmare so chilling, so frightening, so unrelenting it could only come from the mind of Stephen King. Now the master storyteller of our time gives terror a new name in The Langoliers. A jet leaves on a red-eye flight from Los Angeles to Boston. But early in the flight, ten passangers awaken to a startling realization: All of the other passengers have vanished -- and the ground below is only...ground. But once they manage to land the plane, the situation doesn't improve. No one is there...the air is still...the clocks have stopped...and a dread, evil presence bent on their destruction is headed straight for them. Based on the novella from the best-selling anthology Four Past Midnight, Patricia Wettig (City Slickers II), Bronson Pincho (Beverly Hills Cop), Dean Stockwell (The Player) and David Morse (The Getaway) stare into the jaws of oblivion in this nightmare from the mind of Stephen King.

I watched it when i was 12 i think and it blew me away. Havnt seen it since, but just remember the impact it had on me back then. If i watched it now, i might question what all the fuss was about back then, so maybe i should refrain from it but back then it was a film unlike any other. If you do get round to watching it, let me know what u think.

Quick heads-up for King fan's out there, if you've never seen it, I highly recommend the HBO mini-series adaptation of The Shining.

agree, its very good - AFAIK SK made it after the film as he wasn't hapy with the film - the miniseries covers alot more detail (and is alot longer - 6 hours or so ??)

No time to confirm right now, but I'd assume The Stand and Golden Years since they were miniseries as opposed to movies.

I'm guessing The Stand as it's on for about 3 days...

Great deal but from my own opinion I often feel let down by the endings of King's films. Tha Stand - as said by a few of you already - was ace all the way through, then it finished as though they were running out of tape and rushed it.

I admit I've not read the book but if they're the same I'd be looking for a bridge and writing a note after spending so much time reading to be let down at the end. Even The Shining was a bit this way, albeit one of the more memorable films I've seen. In fact if I read both I probably wouldn't have to find a bridge!

Still hot, but just having a moan. oO
