It's actually a very good film with some decent acting, Pennywise the clown scared the carp outta me when i first watched this movie.

Really good version. The book is far scarier though!

Some horrors maybe (Can't fault The Shining and Carrie)
but The Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile.

I think the problem with the full books (IT, The Stand etc) compared to his short stories (Shawshank, Green Mile, Total Recall etc) is that they're so detailed that anyone whose read the books first is inevitably disappointed with the film.
The short stories are more ideas than anything, and so translate better to film.

Having said that, his books are usually "on a budget" films with poor actors and cheapo special effects. With the exception of Pennywise, I thought the acting in I.T was appalling, and some of the changes from the book were just stupid. I think he just takes a quick buck on them, because there's little of the books left.

That said, for £3 it's still worth it - but read the book too, it's right up there in my top 3: it's as much about the magic and possibilities of childhood as it is about scaring the crap out of you.

Not a bad horror film, unless of course you're suffering from Coulrophobia.
