Wow, so much snobbery in these comments...

I would be very happy if someone bought me this, as I've always preferred silver and find most gold jewellery tacky. It has nothing to do with the money, just personal preference.

To those who said this would be a one way ticket to divorce and the like...not sure what kind of shallow ungrateful b*tches you're used to dealing with, but perhaps in such a situation you should familiarise them with the phrase 'it's the thought that counts' before directing them to the nearest overpriced jewellers where they can buy their own goddam ring if they don't like it.

Aargh!!

no one is forcing you to buy here.

Nothing like stating the bleeding obvious. Seems that some think that an opinion should only be expressed if its positive. Haters gotta hate I guess. The ring is overpriced at £29, so still not a deal. When the silver has tarnished and worn away, you'll see what I mean...

The expression's "haters gonna hate".

Also, "[wear] away"? It's made of sterling silver, not butter.

It appears I'm one of the few people who agree with you. Maybe hot if you are a doley... but for anyone that's working (even on minimum wage) this is completely naff.

Buying this for your wife/girlfriend is a one way ticket to a divorce/break-up
If my wife divorced me after receiving this as a gift, I would be quite glad of getting rid of such a rich-wanna-be woman that values her marriage as much as the presents she receives.

I'm loving how literal everyone is taking this.

No, you're just sat there being all Troll -like. You really are an idiot. Ah, just seen your avatar which confirms my last comment ;)

Silver doesnt rust, it does develop a dark coating but that is easily removed with a silver cleaning cloth. The thing to bear in mind is that silver is very soft - continual wear will rub it away.

I have this ring and iv had it 7 months and nothings happened to it

i wear nothing but silver as i prefer it, i get lots of nice comments for wearing my silver tat!! i have never had a silver ring wear or rust.... lol what comments..

It says its diamond..???

Silver DOESN'T tarnish OR go black while it's being worn - it's only if you take it off and leave it lying around. If you are not wearing it keep it in a closed jewellery box to prevent it tarnishing. And DO remove it if you are using bleach as it will go black in an instant the second it touches it!

And have some heat OP for your efforts - ignore the eejits giving you grief - keep it up! :-)

Diamond on a silver ring - hmm, doesn't look like the best combination - silver tends to lose lustre pretty soon, maybe its just me, I wont be buying it.

Meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I suppose you drive a Ferrari and Mummy & Daddy pay the rent on your Penthouse oO Then again you could be that berk in the Skoda who smashed in to my car the other day he thought his carp didn't stink either. My point is you don't need money to act like a stuck up numpty brain! I Love my other half and he could give me a ring made from tin foil and i'd still be happy.

Samuel's use silver because it's cheaper than gold and with their mark ups mean their target demographic see them as affordable luxury. It is over priced but you pay for the customer service, which is definitely better than other fashion retailers. If you want market price gold and silver, you need to go to an independent that doesn't have the same logistics. This is a great reduction, but don't expect to make money on eBay...

I don't understand why there's an argument over this. Yes, it's cheap tat. But it's a deal because it's cheap tat.

in my opinion the RRP is inflated way too much. Not only for that rings, but other too. For example:
http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/d/9218068/9ct+yellow+gold+0.25+carat+diamond+solitaire+ring/ - was £699 now £349. You can get these rings on flebay for much less:
v.cheap, although used and the clarity is pretty bad: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18ct-NOT-9ct-Yellow-Gold-25pt-1-4ct-Diamond-Solitaire-Engagement-Ring-P-w-Cert-/231240395578?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_FineJewellery_CA&hash=item35d7006b3a#viTabs_0

IMO best deal, if you can get it near the starting price:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=301222851702

(I know it is flebay, so not a reputable shop, but with buyer protection you can check the ring for free with a local pawnbroker to make sure it is genuine and natural)

Just be aware the stones will be small think it equates to 0.05 or 1/20th diamond. Set in silver it's quite a reactive metal if not looked after as it tarnishes easily take off if using chemicals etc dry after wearing in water

Is normal for silver to change colour, but is very easy to fix it,like you can see in posts above (even toothpaste is working for it). I'm surprised, people don't know how to keep silver clean. What about cutlery and other every day used things?
If women wear silver whilst washing the cutlery/pots the ring should look as shiny as their cutlery :p

but there is no reference for this item. it's the cheapest it's been at H Samuel. Not the cheapest price however for a silver diamond ring.

there are good deals at H Samuel at the moment. particularly with watches, where you do have reference pricing.

And furthermore, this site shouldn't just be about just the cheapest price. input and viewpoints on quality is equally important, especially when one of two reviews on the H Samuel gives it 1 out of 5.

1. Sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver, hence its 925 appelation, doesn't rust. Only FERROUS metals rust. It can tarnish (oxidize) after a few months if left untouched and in contact with air, but that is unlikely with something worn daily, since just the slight polishing action of coming into contact with other parts of your hands, clothes, soaping then towelling dry, etc, is enough to keep it shiny, but if not, a droplet of Brasso or its silver equivalent formulation by the same makers, called Silvo (where do they come up with these names, eh?) will get it super-shiny again.

2. THREE SIZES too big??? Either you married the most absent-minded careless doof or you must be the slimmer of the year! Congrats, either way. One is sarcastic, one not. :p
