I recently installed windows on 2 acer netbooks one with a hardrive the other with solid state memory, there was a huge differance in speeds on these machines, the solid state memory was very slow and as such would not reccomend solid state memory machine, get one with hardrive is my advice.

That's only because Dell will put the absolute cheapest SSDs in there (which are much worse than most HDDs). Of course a decent SSD will cost a lot more though, but I guess if you want a small laptop you might wanna put your own in.
mumbojumbo;7115009
These are Mini 10v models. It's pretty much a standard netbook spec except that you don't get a Windows OS, only 16GB SSD storage, but you do get an extended 3-year warranty. For the same money, you'd do better to look at the MSI Wind from Argos - Windows XP, faster 160GB HDD, but only 2-year manufacturer's warranty. Or get one yourself directly from the outlet...

+1. Got the Wind when they first came down to £200 at Argos a few weeks back. Great little machine.
Dunno its pretty random, its between 9-5 Mon-Fri as thats the hours the Outlet staff work
what time/days are new systems added? all i have seen all today is the £182 before vat + del.
mattinglis;7119438
When did you see these on the outlet i've been scouring it for weeks and only rubbish deals appear. What time do they add new systems?

the above deal does have 3yr warrenty with dell which neither outlet or the other dell deals have.

Each time i get one, i open the box and always say "this is not 2nd user, its brand new!" like you say this is an old model, thats a probably why its dell outlet stock because now they sel black ones!

Of course, it LOOKS like it's brand new, it says it has been reboxed and cosmetically sorted. Most "refurb" stuff looks the part. Some will probably not be used in the usual sense off the word, as some might just be there because they are the end of the line, and they didn't sell through the usual Dell outlet site; but getting one of them would just be pure luck, the rest are second-hand, returned, for the usual reason gear gets returned - because they are faulty, (you don't return goods that are spot-on!) they are then repaired - and the company isn't pretending otherwise: "Each computer is software reloaded, rigorously retested & repackaged" it is you kidding yourself, and some people on her could be mislead :-(

The warranty helps, but the prices are not quite my idea of what second-hand kit should be, (after all, it is on sale through a 3rd party, so their overheads are going to be added on to what they paid Dell for them) as a browse among current Dell model offers http://www.dmxdimension.com/ shows what current pricing is .

"computers that have been returned to Dell for a variety of reasons"

Also known as second-hand!

OK the warranty is remnant of the 3 years, (Inspiron 530's are old models now anyway) but not new.

Have you ever bought a dell outlet pc?? Sounds like you havent

Surely for £23 more it is better to get the faster core 2 duo 2.8Ghz and double the hard drive at 640GB if you are after this sort of pc? OK there is no wireless network card but most desktops are wired in as they are not portable!!

Sorry, I dont understand the point

The link takes you to the right page, then you can make your own mind up whether the wireless card is more value than the extra processing power, because once you go down the more processing power then surely you want a better graphics card......anyway will the 0.2 ghz make any differnce to 99% of users. Stick one of these by your tv..no wires bobs your uncle

Also your statement that most are wired, is not true any more when "most homes" now have more than one computer in the house it avoids all the upheaval of wiring one in

Dell outlet systems are usually like new

I agree, all outlet systems I have bought both personally and for my office have been perfect, not even a scratch

I have bought from Sterling many times. Delivery is quick, and usually they all come with the 3 year warranty.

I bought My Dell netbook from them with a pucker 3 year warranty, Dell dont even sell them with the same warranty!

Buy with confidence from them

PS there are loads more deals on this site currently even if you miss this one :-)

£17.63 for delivery.

the link goes through to an ibm thinkpad?

Scroll down the page, lots of offers there. The d400 is about 5th down.
the link goes through to an ibm thinkpad?
Well we all have our own opinions dont we and I was considering it mainly as something that didnt cost much that could be used without too much worry of the cost involved should the kids break it, using it with an external screen is of course always an option and as a backup for getting you quickly online should your delsktop fail I thought it not a big outlay.
You feel its a bad deal, ok thats what the voting is for.

There are plenty of other deals available on the pages from that company who btw have been around for a number of years now, this post may bring up something else that you find more suited to your needs.

I voted cold and always buy Dell. I love 'em. I appreciate this has a 3 year warranty but it has a low spec and for the money I can get a higher spec 1501 new from Dell albeit with a one year warranty. In my experience Dell are very reliable (only 1 failure in 14 systems) so the warranty is not really worthwhile.
MikeT
I see the dell haters are striking again with cold votes without being able to at least say why.
Take away the Warranty and what you have is a laptop worth under £300 IMO. So you're paying about £80+ for a warranty on a £290- laptop. That's why I vote it cold.

The lack of a DVD burner is a pain also. But for people who prefer Warranties over anything else this is a nice deal I suppose!
id rather have the top ibm off that website...

thinkpad t41

also mcs seems cheaper in general.
SterlingXS are spot on, I brought a refurbed dell latitude from there about 10 months ago, and its superb, very good service and support. Btw MikeT, ignore the cold votes, I have so far brought an Inspiron 1501 and an E520 purely due to the effort you put into posting the best Dell deals on this site, so many thanks! Voted Hot.
