Ok, so Ive been with talktalk for over 12 months now, great deal -16.49 a month for line rental, evening calls to landline and international calls, with free broadband- happy so far!
But tiscali do the same thing for £2-ish less a month.
Had no intention of moving- far too much agro, but called and said I would!!!- Given £2 off per bill for next 12 months.
Check out the tiscali link at options 1 and 2 so you know your onions!!

Never actually met anyone with problems with TalkTalk before! I'm sticking with them but not taking this up as I'm not being tied into another contract when I can leave when I like at the mo.

talktalk is already cheaper than tiscali (see my comparison at the tiscali thread), so you really have a good deal now.

Good call. I love Talktalk. I pay about £16.50 for line rental, broadband and off peak free calls, + free international calls which we regularly use. Have only recently dropped to off peak tarriff, so am tied in. Otherwise I would ring and do what the OP suggests. People, open your eyes to Talk talk!

I suspect they had a problem understanding you too !!

I've been with TalkTalk 18 months now and get an almost constant 4Mb connection.
Only had one problem and that was with a faulty BT outdoor supply cable.
TalkTalk CS were great and had BT Openreach install a new cable the next day, on a Saturday morning.
Best value around and personally I couldn't be bothered to spend 15 minutes on the phone trying to 'con' them to save a couple of quid a month.

In contrast,of the 12 people I know on Talk Talk none of them are happy and are simply waiting on contracts to expire so they can leave.

whateveryou think of talktalk still good to get monthly payment down.

Won't take it up because like someonelse said don't want to be tied down. We had horrendous trouble setting up, and poor customer service. took ages to get broadband and it cost us money as we we had to use our standby payg. only stayed with them to claw back some money on free land line calls. Thanks for reminding me its time for a change.

No they never had a problem understanding me!

The problem was them this was a year ago and it was on watchdog everyone in the same boat as me!
everyone I know had a problem with talktalk,

The box kept switching off, woudn't reconise anything, then they replaced it and new one didnt work, my internet worked about 2 months out of whole year of problems, Then They wouldnt give me my pac code to leave them, They didn't know what I was talking about, and I couldnt go with anyone else till I got it from them. and was very frustrating, I got legal advice and they sorted the problem for me eventually, A broadband rep came to my door to sell it me and I told him and he said that they were having major problems with broadband then and its now getting sorted, Which I don;t know if it has now, I'm now with sky and touch wood been perfect from day one. everyone to there own experience and situations.

Whilst I appreciate that some people don't like Talktalk for whatever reason, surely this post is aimed at those who are with talktalk and happy. If I was with talktalk and was planning on staying with them then this has to be a good deal, surely the only reason not to go for it would be, like others have said, if you would prefer to not betied down to another 12 months. Voted hot.

Voted hot. Made me make the call to see what options were available to me to reduce the cost of my DD. I was on the anytime calls free plan, but hardly ever use the phone. So this post planted the seed that I should at least call. Well worth it. I was on £19 pm they offered to switch to evening and w/e call plan which is £16.99, I said that wasn't much of a difference and that Tiscali (printed off from their website) were offering a better plan and I was given a further reduction of £5 pm for the next 6 months reducing my DD to £11.99 till April next year. Result!!! I'm not tied into a contract they said it was a rolling month to month and I could increase or change my plan at anytime. Extra pennies to go towards the heating bill, really needed at this time of the year.
