GORDON FREEMAN SAVED MY LIFE...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrrPMFVUuRE
A ridiculously good price for what is still probably the best FPS ever made. Played through it again about a year ago and it's still excellent although there are some levels that are overlong (the boat trip), but Ravenholme is still a masterpiece and the Gravity Gun is still possibly the best weapon ever in a videogame.

Got it on release day originally and it took hours to get it registered on Steam - IIRC started about 7pm and finally registered about 11.30. Then spent the next four or five hours just wandering around marvelling at it all. The characters seemed to be imbued with life, the tech was a meteoric leap-forward compared to what had come before it.

I remember finding that playground near the start and just playing with the physics for ages. Putting bricks onto one end of the see-saw, jumping off the wall onto the other end and seeing the bricks realistically arc through the air. Sounds pathetic now, I know, but back in 2004 it was like witnessing the future. HL2 didn't just raise the goal posts, it transported them to another planet.

Edited By: chrisnbourne on Jul 03, 2017 12:40: Jul 03, 2017 12:40
i wish i hadnt played them already. The ants nest is my fav bit but its ALL GOOD! Ashes indeed Danny!
Oh yeah. The long run on the swamp boat was fantastic.AND the beach buggy. AND Ravenholm. (hl2 not episodes) and the gravity gun, and, and,
there are so many favorite bits you just know the world lost something when steam stopped making games.
Lost coast was half lifes own benchmark, believe it or not. ( i get 300 fps at 1080p now ;#} )

Complete this on the 360 years ago and enjoyed it. Worth a punt at this price of you like this kind of thing (assuming the port is tolerable).

Heated as impressively cheap for a silent hill game. Wish they would give the first three the resident evil treatment (i.e. remake them) as they were genuine classics but haven't aged well...

They've remade resident evil one / zero, they're in the process of remaking 2 and I would expect 3 to eventually be announced providing 2 sells well.

It is £6.39 not £15.99 as the title says, which is the lowest price it has ever been.
It is a fantastic game and has good co-op too.
This would never be £6.39 in a million years, £15.99 is correct, so what is the cheapest this has ever been, i thought £15.99 was.

It's not the greatest of price's it has been but In all honesty the game is great fun and definitely worth it.

Good story and the Co-op makes it that little more enjoyable.

Regarding Fairy Fencer F, is it worth paying little more for the Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force version or are they different games? Thanks

From Gamefaqs forums:

"The first, and largest change to the game is the addition of 2 completely new 2nd half story paths, which is determined by the number of furies that you remove from the evil god before reaching the point of no returnhalfway into the original game. Before reaching that point in thegame, if you remove 6 or more furies, but not all of them from the evil god takes you into his route, while removing ALL of the furies from the evil god, and winning the battle doing so triggers takes you into the false goddess route. As the original game had you completely lose one character you can never regain after the first half of the game, and several you could only get in the second half, the new game+ function did not allow you to keep allies when the story wouldn't allow their usage from plot. that too has been changed. the party members exclusive to one route you have "completed" supposedly now DO get carried on to NG+ replays regardless of story nay-says, and as there is at least one completely new playable character to collect from the new paths, have fun!

They've seriously upgraded the difficulty of the extra boss fights of the "not really optional" furies that were originally from Lola's far too easy to accidentally miss one or more of sidequests, which appear to no longer be so easily miss able, thankfully. again, NG+ makes them inconsequential though, same as before."

It certainly is worth the extra.

If you enjoy Talos, you might enjoy The Witness too.
thought this was a nod32 deal for a moment there :}
I've been a gamer for over 30 years, this rates in as one of my favourite games of all time. Filled with Easter eggs around every corner.
Some puzzles are really challenging, but it's one of those ones where if you leave it and come back another time with a different perspective you'll probably solve it.
I managed to bag every puzzle piece and star eventually. I also think the DLC is excellent.
Fantastic game.
Gehenna is the only one worth getting and definitely worth £2.74. Be wary of trying to get every star as some are nearly impossible. Story is really strong, puzzles are pleasantly hard.
As it's only another 3p for the Gold edition which gives the other 4 bits you may as well.
How is the DLC?

Bought the base game a while ago for £7.50. Should probably try it before buying the DLC though lol

steam logoSteam – From Counter-Strike Software to One of the World’s Largest Gaming Communities

Valve, the company behind Steam, have been in the gaming business since 1996. Since that time, they have produced the first-person, sci-fi shooter Half-Life, horror titles such as Left 4 Dead, and the multiplayer combat game Team Fortress. They’re also the creators of the popular online action game Counter Strike, as well as Portal.

Steam is one of Valve’s newest innovations. Initially, Steam was simply a tool to provide Counter Strike customers with game updates however, the technology quickly morphed into a gaming platform. Today, Steam is one of the largest gaming platforms in the world. It has more than 3,500 games in a variety of genres that ranges from action to indie as well as an ever-growing community of gamers.  The number of members currently stands at more than 100,000,000, made up of people from 237 different countries worldwide.

Steam allows both fans and game developers to not only buy and play games but also to modify and create new games, in addition to building communities around games from Valve and other independent game producers.

Steam – Where to Shop

Steam’s products are mainly games but also include software, hardware, and movies that are available to purchase at Steam’s website www.steampowered.com. From here, you can download the software needed to power Steam to your desktop. Steam’s desktop software is available for PCs, Macs, and Linux users.

It’s also possible to use Steam on TVs and mobile phones and to browse and shop the full range of products using these devices too.

Secure Online Shopping at Steam

All purchases made through Steam are protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL). This encrypts your personal data (such as credit card information) and keeps it secure.

For additional Steam account security, mobile users can also enable their phones as a Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator.steam controller

Top Products available at Steam

Steam’s main offering is games, offering more than 3,500 different games in just about every genre imaginable. These include action, adventure, racing, simulation, sports, strategy, RPG, and massively multiplayer such as GTA V, The Whitcher, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Call of Duty or Tomb Raider. Along with standard purchases, Steam also has a number of free-to-play games, early access games, and virtual reality games.

For game developers, Steam sells a wide range of software for making and editing games, photo and video editing, and web publishing.

Steam also sell gaming hardware such as Steam controllers, Steam machines, and Steam links.

It’s possible to purchase movies at Steam too. There are a number of different genres available including action, comedy, sci-fi, horror, and thriller, as well as documentaries and TV episodes.

Finding the best deals at Steam

Deals and discounts are slightly hidden on the Steam homepage. To find the latest deals, you will need to scroll down to “New Releases“ and then click the “Specials“ tab.

There are usually a large number of discounts at any given time, however you can narrow it down by tag (for example indie, adventure, action, etc), type (for example game, software, demos, etc), and by number of players (for example single player or multiplayer).

Steam also runs a big sale once a year during the Black Friday weekend. This normally begins on Black Friday and runs through until the end of Cyber Monday. During this weekend, discounted products are normally featured on the homepage as well as on the “Specials“ page.

For UK customers, physical products are shipped via Fedex from the United States. UK and international customers have three different shipping options to choose from:

  • FedEx International Priority: usually delivers within 1-3 business days.
  • FedEx International Economy: usually delivers within 2-7 business days.
  • FedEx International Mail Service: delivery times are indefinite.
  • Fedex International Mail Service is only available on small orders up to 3 lbs (1.36 kg) and is only recommended for low-value purchases.

Refunds at Steampowered.com

All refunds are handled through the help section of your Steam account. You can submit a refund request directly via the homepage. Most products purchased through Steam are entitled to a refund, however, the rules vary depending on the product.

Game Purchases: Your refund request should be made within 14 days of purchase and the title should not have been played for more than 2 hours.

In-Game Purchases: Your refund request must be made within 48 hours of purchase and the in-game purchase must not have been modified, consumed, or transferred to another member.

Pre-Purchase Titles: Your refund request can be made any time up until the release of the game or title. After the release date, you can still request a refund and the normal refund rules (e. g. 14 days for games or 48 hours for in-game purchases) will apply.

Hardware: Your refund request must be made within 30 days of receiving your purchases. After that, you have 14 days to return the hardware to Steam.

Movies: Movies are not eligible for a refund.
